Got Timerider today from Stroker Ace! Thanks again man. He also threw in Vanishing Point as a bonus. Im going to my parents house for Christmas in Santa Clarita, and my dad and I will definitely be watching both. Is there anyone who would like a copy of the Timerider DVD? If you PM me your shipping address I'll mail one out at no charge. Merry Christmas! -Blake
To Mike and the Up-Tite Baja trip crew, This sounds like a great ride, and thanks for the post and effort it takes to arrange all this, however: I will be focusing on dragging my tired old arse around the Ryan Hughes Camp at Ryno Land that weekend on Sunday. 2 hours (old guy class) vs 2+ days of riding may not sound like much,,but I will try my best to fly the H colors in good measure and compress the equivalent of 2+ ride days into 2 hours of intensity and focusing on putting passes on more bikes than put passes on me,,,,,I am fighting for Husky Bucks !! That's my 2 cents. R
Sorry we will miss you Robert. Hope to get ya on a trip next summer. Thanks for checking in. Hard to compete with Rhino or Valentines or Indy all that weekend....
Is this a good weather link? http://www.theweathernetwork.com/index.php?product=weather&placecode=mxxx0007&switchto=f It has "C" for the people that want it.
http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=728678 Just to whet ya'alls appetites this is a T-Talk link to a Baja Nord photo album taken by one of our local guys, he is RH and snaps mega photos while just racking up mucho miles on his WR450 (I think somewhere @12,000). He always drops his albums into my inbox, I met him on a St Tomas to St Quintin ride where he saved me with a Dunny 695 from his chase truck after my wrong choice 756 caused me 2 flats even at 18psi,,I also had one front flat that day as well..(baja story) Listen to Geo and Mike concerning tire choice and T.P. for the rally type environs down there, heavy, heavy and higher (heavy carcass tires, heavy duty tubes, and higher pressures) to deal with sharp stuff at higher speeds. enjoy the ride!! R
Baja has many different weather regions. Along the Pacific its cold in the winter, and nice in the summer. Along the Gulf coast its nice in the winter and too hot in the summer. Where we are going its currently low to mid 60's and high 40's at night. By mid Feb it will be getting significantly hotter. 70's to low 80's. My April it can reach 90's and by May first triple digit days. Water temp is the big factor, its a shallow sea, and so it radically changes temps with the season. Heres a link of current weather in San Felipe: http://www.sanfelipe.com.mx/weather/index.html
Happy New Year Mike. I will be coming down for you and George's Baja ride. I am a regular Baja Pro 40 rider for last several years. I met George at his shop 2 days before the '06 1000. I bent my lower triple clamp practicing for the race, he had one, he also had a trick skid plate and other Baja necessities. I will bring my brother Nick, he also has Baja experience. We are both firefighters and a paramedic in Santa Cruz County, we always pack the med bag full of goodies for Baja. We will have the '05 TE450 and the '08 TE510, whata great bike, talking about smooth balanced wheelies at speed too. We will be bringing typical Baja necessities: fatty tubes, chains, sprockets, bars, grips, levers, filters, plenty of Rock Oil etc., most of all the Honda generator for our coffee perculator... Please put us on the list. Mike and George if anything else you can ring me at 831-438-4241. Jim Owens.
OK a couple of updates. Good news (at least for me). I will be able to make it on this ride. My dad and brother will be joining me. Neither of them will be riding, but they will take my truck (2008 Toyota Tundra) as another support vehicle. Mike, I will meet up with you at the Calexico border on Friday the 13th (oooh...that's not good). Should shape up to be a good trip. Everyone who PM'd me their address, the copies of Timerider have been shipped today. Expect them sometime next week. Bob, I lost the box you shipped me the DVD's in, so I lost your address. Please PM that to me and I will send the 2 DVD's and 2 more DVD copies of Timerider back to you. Thanks again for letting me borrow them. You were right...There is a lot of good riding footage in that movie, but It was a bit strange at times. The ending is a bit strange, and I don't really get it, but I'm sure you can explain it all while kicking back a few beers in Bay of LA. -Blake
Yep, He'll chase. If we need 2 trucks my dad said he would be willing to drive your truck, and my brother can take mine. We'll see how it all works out when we get down there and see how many people we have. Don't worry about having to drive, and just focus on riding!
Northwest update? As soon as my leave form is signed this coming week, I'm golden for the ride. Caveat, can't make the drive down by myself in a safe manner. Sounds like F2G is fairly solid as well. Anyone else have info from here so we can start making plans? Once again, I'm going south toward Mexico on 12 Feb, looking to be back by late 17 Feb. All times referring to Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia area. HELL YEAH!
See if you can sucker in the Canadian guys too. Weird weather around here today. Hard frosts at night - but ran the AC in the truck in the afternoon. Bright sunshine & lots of short sleeve shirts.
I'm offering up a place to stay to any Northwest guys coming down. I live in Temecula, and have a room and 2 couches open as well as a 3 car garage to store any bikes in at my house. I will be heading down early Friday morning to meet up with a friend down in SF and then hooking up with the rest of the guys when they arrive. I am only 3 hours from the border crossing in Calexico. Hope to see a bunch of you up there make it down. Will be a BLAST!
That may play well into this thing, definitely appreciate the offer. I'm hoping more folks will be able to commit soon so we can Gel a plan of sorts to invade SoCal. I will be bringing some Moss with me out of principle,
