Got the Single TI Leo Vince on order for my new 630. Hope it lives up to all the hype. Plan is to run it with the power up kit only and stock air box with the snake plastic removed. On the other hand has anyone see these carbon heat shields from Bills that may work as a replacement for the stock 630 exhaust heat shield? http://billshusky.com/archives/971
Finally someone made a nice piece but it looks like it needs to be a few inches longer. I don't want to look at that clamp!
Doesn't the Leo come with a carbon heat shield? Looks like it does on their website anyways. http://www.leovince.com/en/catalog-...upermoto_full_titanio_sm_630_r_i_e_2010/12677
Ok I have not seen any posts about this option with the Leo Vince single ti system yet. The system comes with two spark arrestor options 1- a full diameter insert (right in photo) 2- a restricted diameter 28mm insert with spark arrestor in inlet end (left in photo) Obviously the system can be run full open or with either spark arrestor all of which would require slightly different fuel metering to accomodate the flow of air.
Could someone please explain to me why they don't come this way from the factory? Just stopped at the bowling alley and dropped off two bowling balls that I was needlessly carying around. It was so obviously different that I had to change the rear shock pre-load to get appropriate sag. I decided to remove the blue Leo decal on the carbon end cap prior to starting...guess I'm not a decal kinda guy. Ran into two dilemmas during the install. The first required slight modification of the Up-Tite skid plate to obtain appropriate clearance (see photo below). The Leo TI system headers hug the frame significantly closer than the stock header system. Second, the bolt supplied in the Leo kit for bolting on the mid pipe to the lower rear sub frame mount was short by 3/8" when including the rear foot peg mount. With the system running completely open (no arrestor) the engine seemed lean by just working the throttle in neutral. I know this is not the proper way to test but just based on my experience with engines. I installed the larger diameter sparky and it seemed fine so far over the 10 mile easy ride. Time will tell.. After just a short 10 mile run down the freeway in rush hour I immediately noticed a difference in the power / torque at 3200 to 3600 rpm where you would be in 6th gear at slow highway speeds (55 to 60 mph). The bike would now easily pull 6th on flat ground idling along without having to continually shift back on forth from 6th to 5th using the stock 15/42 gearing. Will need some more time on the bike to provide a better evaluation.
Good job! Now you need to plug in a JD power serge and you will really make it run. Oh and that sprocket should be changed, 15/42 is sm gearing.
Yes I know, what I meant was if you change the gearing it will help it run much better also. Both models, te and sm are geared way to high to get any performance out of them. The gearing they put on from the factory is only meant to slow the motors down to pass sound and emissions tests to be street legal. The 38 tooth I took off my sm is so rediculous it went straight in the trash, it's 42 now. The te has a taller 5th and 6th gear in the trans along with a much bigger tire so I changed mine to 48, what a difference. My sm will just tap 100mph and te probably would but after 90 I'm not that comfortable hanging on to it with the knobbies.
Changed mine to 14/45. Much the same as 15/48. Seems like the best all round ratio for the 630. Stock is much too high!
I like the stock gearing also on my TE today especially when zipping down the freeway at 80 mph for 50 miles while my bud with his TE has the 15/45 ratio and didn't like the high R's at 80 mph. We put on 225 miles today with a combo of freeway, single lane highway, dirt road, two track and some sandy single track.
as Husky666 indicated on page 1 of this thread "Call this # 510-232-4040 ask for Ryan. I don't want to quote prices but he sure took care of me."
Is it a pain in the butt to change the arrestors out? Where do they go? In the can or down in the piping? I will be placing an order hopefully today! I plan to run full open, with power up kit, and maze removed from airbox. Anybody running this setup? Thoughts? Later plan to get the JD jetting unit as well.
The sparkys go in the end of the carbon end cap and are held in with a set bolt. Running open air box and no sparky will require additional fuel programming besides power up IMO.
So I like light weight AND the dual exhaust....anyone hear any word if someone is working on a full Ti dual exhaust setup?
