Off topic question....why do dirt bikes always use spoked wheels? I figured there is some kind of advantage for dirt bikes? Stronger, maybe?
Also they're stronger laterally than one-piece wheels of similar weight, and unlike streetbikes, dirtbike wheels see a lot of odd loadings
I've just got a Titanium mufflers with carbon end caps from WINGS. The sound is awesome, they are also over 50% lighter and much cooler (no cat). The finish is first grade and the design- as they were made specialy for my bike. See for yourself.
Something to remember if you put the leo vince system on your bike. Today my bike is in for first service. The dealer called me asking if I adjusted the chain because he said it was "a little tight." I told him no, that the last time the chain was adjusted was when they repaired my flat. I guess he thought "this guy is a dumbass, I gotta tell him not to make his chain so tight." But when I said I hadn't touched it he sounded confused. Well I figure what probably happened is that when I took off the heavy stock exhaust and replaced it with the leo, the back end raised up higher. I didn't adjust my preload when I was done so remember to adjust your rear preload when you're done so your chain isn't too tight!
Actually on this bike the chain is tighter when more weight is on the back. I hope I understood your post right
chain tension should be measured when the swingarm is perpendicular to the motor. its all about the circles...
Looks good the Wings are nice, I put a set on my KTM last year. Can you post a side shot to show how they connect? How much were they? Thanks
Well then if your chain is too loose don't bother adjusting it, order another pizza and crack open a beer!
put another way... chain is tightest when you can draw a straight line through the countershaft, swingarm pivot and axle.... or buy a 511 where the pivot and countershaft are concentric and the chain tension stays the same throughout the arc. A tiedown strap can be handy for holding the swingarm in position.
I finally gave-in and ordered a full Leo Vince system for my SM630. It should arrive within the next few days. So I went ahead and pulled off the stock exhaust tonight. Thanks for the tip on the ball hex wrench! Still, the header bolt directly behind the frame was a real pain to get out. My question is...Does the Leo exhaust system come with replacement header bolts? The ones that I pulled out have slight imperfections and probably shouldn't be reused. Has anyone switched to flange head hex bolts? I'm thinking they might be easier to install...???
Do you have a JD power surge? When I installed the leo it definitely helped performance but I did have a torque dip after installing it. Fixed it with the power surge.
