Yep, some KTM 200 I have ridden were crazy fast. Some mellow.

    - Spoke to two more people today that were at the KTM demo and both said the new 125 was awesome and the 150 have way to much hit. One of these guys is on Jakes vid and is a FAST A guy.

The '16 was definitely fast, but all usable. No crazy hit like the 200's 10+ years ago, but definitely right there with the power. I could run in third and just make traction or shift down and rev it, but no crazy hit. Guy will be at Enduro Sunday, with a new 150SX, so I'll try to get a ride.

Can't you just add a FWW to the 150 to make it more useable. Then it could be easier to ride then a 125 but have a little more hit? Sorry, never used one before but the magazine's make it sound like a great fix for this kind of stuff

I'm not as big a fan of the 150 as the 200..... the 150 is really pipey to me and when it comes on it hits hard where the 125 you can ride high in the RPMs most of the time and if it bogs and then comes its easier to control

PDS may be great for some people, but after 3 years on the Husaberg and then switching to the TE125 with linkage... I think for the type of riding I do, linkage works best for me.

If I do it, the XC-W frame will probably just get parked and engine reinstalled, when it's time to sell. I thought I could switch back and forth between the Husaberg TE250 and the TE125, but I don't really like the way the TE250 feels anymore.... heavy, bulky and PDS. What I really would like is a TC or TE125 to practice on staying sharp and a TE200 estart to race and do trail work.

    Exactly....

Some dont like two different bikes but I do because there are places that one can do better than another.....

I like 2 bikes for a number of reasons but mostly because your race bike can stay sharp and less hours.....

I will probably go 125 with 200 if I can and a 300 or 501.... I like the 2 extremes... never come to terms with 250f or 250 2 stroke

I've ridden 250 2T's a bunch over the years and prefer small bores. When I bought my '02 WR125, my '00 WR250 just gathered cobwebs. The little bit lighter bike, just works for me. I did the 144 and 165 thing on my '09 WR125. With a bad right knee, the 165 was sort of hard to start for me. I went to the Husaberg TE250, because I really wanted the button on a 2T. If KTM had it on the 200 that year, I probably would have bought that instead.

I do really good on 125s I take all the "pro hills", technical sections, never really came across any section in a race that I couldnt do.... you reallyhave to pay attention on some sections so you dont get stuck but i can finish and still have enerrgy.....

My TE300 I really liked but i really tamed the p/v down to make it put the power to the ground.... I've ridden a 1000 different 250 and just never really liked them... my favorite 250 was probably a 00' 250CR and I have about 10 125s I would take before any of the 250s Ive ridden and owned....

Favorite bikes list that Ive owned

    1. 02' Berg FE501 Could go fast straight away along with everyone who rode it
    2. 14' Husky TE300 Love power and overall feel
    3. 09' CR125 great torque, tall, handled great
    4. 02' CR125 FBF Lammy bike great power, 50mm forks crazy good
    5. 02' Honda CR125 light and flickable

Ive had 10 different Husky 125s

    Worst bikes Ive owned

    1. 03' 125SX Steering hated more one direction than other
    2. 07' 200XC PO did motor work and power was violent
    3. 09' 300EC Built for midgets
    4. 05' YZ250 Great forks rest of bike blah
    5. 09' YZ125 same as above

    Interesting...

A 250 2 stroke is about the best 'all conditions' bike that I've ever ridden. I bought my FC250 because of efi and estart. If not for those 2 things (the only real advances in dirt bikes since the late 80's in my eyes), I'd still be riding a 250 2 stroke.

Engines arent smoother with better and more power? yes

Low travel suspension that doesnt flex like a slinky

I guess thats why KTM makes 21 different adult bikes.... and I think the 300 is the best all around....

I rode an Enduro today, on my TE125. It was hot and humid, with some really tight sections. If I had been on the 250, I'd be exhausted.... I wasn't riding the 125. The 250 2T is the all around best bike, just not for me.

    To each their own.

If I restored an '89 Honda CR250 and had the suspension and motor tuned to my liking - I'd probably go about the same speed on it as any new bike. You guys are much more serious about riding than I am though. And spending $$$ haha - some of you are keeping fanny and freddy going.

If you are after just speed the four stoke 250s are the fastest for most riders eg your FC 250 Letitsnow.
I read an article and the guys were testing the ktm 200 vs the 250 F . The guy rode an Enduro lap on the 200 and came back pumped thinking he'd nailed it - felt real fast . Then he rode the 250f and came back saying it felt a bit slow . He was 5 secs or so quicker on the 250 f. But its not just about speed .

I like the smaller 2 T bikes as they more fun to ride - less expensive - easier to work on , lighter in extreme situations and I can ring its neck more .

A little update.... I rode the TE125 Sunday, in a local enduro. After we finished, I got to swap bikes with another rider I know, who just bought a '16 KTM 150SX. We rode some fast open trail and some super tight. Other guy is a really good A Rider. Bike was still super stiff and a very light flywheel, but definitely had more power than the 125. In the tight woods, I could run it a gear higher in spots. The bike's jetting wasn't dialed in for the very hot and humid conditions, so was a bit rich, but not boggy. I definitely prefer the Magura clutch on my TE125, over the 150SX's Brembo. Bike is super light and slim and makes the TE125 seem big. I'd love to ride a full on woods version of it.

I also got to ride a '12 KTM 150XC, on the same trails. Whereas the '16 150SX feels like a big 125.... the '12 150XC feels like a smaller version of the 200XC-W! Power had nice torque and could rev too. Places I would be shifting between first and second on the 125 and ride in second on the 150SX... I could ride in third on the 150XC! More amazing.... It had a huge Kenda Equilibrium on it and was still stock 13/50 gearing. I run 13/52 on the TE125 with the same tire and it feels like 13/50 with the stock tire.
    Pretty impressive, in my book.

So, I'm back to the old plan..... I have all the parts to do the bore and stroke 150 conversion and it's a good time to do it. I have a couple more races, one being Unadilla GNCC and a D4 Sprint Enduro, that is the most technical on the schedule.... A little extra power and torque, will be welcome. I'll miss the button, that the 200 would have brought, but I'll just keep the money in the mattress until the '17 TE's appear. I'm hoping for a '17 TE150 Estart, that Walt can work his 165 magic on!
