The only thing they are trying is to get the part for cheaper from HALLS, who apparently purchased a few TR650s just to part them out. Yeah, I don't have much choice on dealers since I bought the bike in St. Louis and it is currently in the San Diego area, where Motoforza is the only game in town.

I know that early on (maybe) Jan/Feb of 2014 someone else initiated a complaint with the NTSB here in the states. It got a number of complainants responding and adding their stories but nothing ever came of it.

MotoForza are good people - so not a bad place to be "stuck." However, you do have another option in GP Motorcycles - it's near the San Diego Airport. I've bought one bike from each of those dealers (both street bikes though). Parts are not the cheapest, but both dealers have knowledgeable people who give good advice.

I've lost all faith in BMW at this point. I always thought they stood above the rest in quality and service, but I guess that has changed too.
I have a co-worker/friend in Holland with a 1200GS (IIRC) he bought new, constant problems, and even with the warranty still pays through the nose sometimes. He likes to adv tour W Europe and last I heard he's had to wait for parts or repair every trip.

Just curious... What is the part# they're claiming is the problem? I don't see anything fitting that description in the parts catalog.

I'll let you know the part numbers they intend to replace, tomorrow, when the shop is open to ask the questions.

Since people are feeling a little down on the Beemers... THIS IS A SHAMELESS PLUG FOR MOTO GUZZI.

I had a couple BMWs, and while they were reliable and steadfast, I never fell in love. Go get yourself a Moto Guzzi. Even though she'll fuss on occasion, and make you mad every now and then, she'll pay you back in a way that only a voluptuous Italian can...
    Yay for BIG TWINS: :banana::banana:

I just rented a BMW R1200GS for a weekend in Denver - and so did a friend. He is now looking to buy a Moto Guzzi Stelvio.

I rode a buddys Guzzi. Newer kind standard sport model. I liked it above say 35-40 but below that it was odd and sometimes not confidence inspiring. The motor does rock the bike to the side some and it was long geared and moved around a lot at low speeds. Higher speeds it seemed to come into its own and I liked it. Surprisingly fast. Was really shocked my buddy could kinda hang with me on my FZ1. I like twins and triples.. well and 4's and singles ha ha ha ha

    Hello from Greece,
    Here is my little story.
I bought my Terra this year brand new. I have only 6.000 kilometers on the Odometer.
I had stalling problems from the first days. I bought a module for the Belgium ( like Wukka) and on the cold days the bike was "almost" fine.
When the weather becomes hot here in Greece the weather is most of days hot the bike is dangerous in traffic conditions.
I took my bike to the BMW dealer with Moss. He did the update but he told me that the data is from 2013. No new data since this time. Nothing happens...the bike is getting worst each day. I took out the module. The bike become even worst.

Two days before i tried to pass a crossroad....a car was coming but i have time to pass.....the bike turn off in the middle of the road..... I saw the car coming !!.Nothing to do. Finally and hopefully stopped just on my left foot without fall me down.

Yesterday i went to the official KTM service. I have a long conversation with the head mechanic.I try to explain the problem. He said that he knows the problem...but....he have no solution for me..except that i can close an appointment to check the problem and email this to the head office of KTM. He said that KTM have no solution because BMW design the ECU and they have no data for this. KTM buys the name of Husqvarna for other reasons as all know ( the enduro part), they sell the factory witch produce the Terras and the Nudas and they do not know nothing.
they really do not care. KTM wants the brand. They do not give a dam for these models. That is the trough.

But.....my bike writes Husqvarna on my tank. That's all i know. And i must have full customer support for 2 yeras as the warranty says.
The bike becomes dangerous ....i am an expired rider and i know that i will fall down sooner or later because of this problem. I know that i will have problem with the gearbox discs because i have to start holding the clutch longer that the normal in each traffic light.

My opinion is all of us must do something all together. I do not know if the law way is the solution....but we have to do something.

P.S. Off the record the mechanic advices me to disconnect the O2 sensor. i did it. The bike looks better. No faulty signal on the dashboard but i do not if this is right or wrong for the engine.

So, is there an attorney amongst us? It would seem that most of the people in the know are on the TR threads here and on ADV. If we have the right approach to this we may be able to .......I dunno, maybe recoup the price of the bikes, affect real change in a permanent repair. Just throwing this out for thought. In any case, we would have to get the ear of the National Transportation Safety Board in the States and whatever equivalent in your countries.

Seems like a long shot unless one of us dies as a result of the stall.

I agree that Husqvarna whether it be BMW or KTM should step up & take care of the "issues".
If I had purchased the bike new, I would have insisted on BMW taking care of the problem or buying the bike back.

I bought mine a month ago with 540 miles on it knowing about most of them. The PCV and auto tune ($459 shipped) completely eliminated any drivability issues & woke the bike up. If I had purchased the bike new, I would have insisted on BMW taking care of the problem or buying the bike back.

BMW sold Husqvarna to KTM. They own it. They need to work with BMW or provide a KTM ECU. Period.

Until it becomes an unavoidable public relations problem, don't expect them to give you the time of day or even acknowledge either company has anything to do with it. They will continue to drag their feet unless they start getting negative press outside of a miniscule universe like the Cafe.

Not trying to rain on your parade, just being realistic.

I'd take a cash settlement in a heartbeat. I would like enough to cover the expense of the Micro Squirt and a new Dash. About $1200 should cover it.

But to turn it in for what I paid, not gonna happen. I have much time and money invested getting it like I like, and unless that was paid out, I'll keep it. In my daydream states, I ponder how much I would sell it for if someone offered cash while I was out riding it. $10k would make it worth my while.

A beemer out the door would cost me $11-12k, and wouldn't be the same, so why any less? Finding a clean 650 X challenge or x country, is near impossible.

Dr Z, please be safe out there, don't want you to be the martyr for the cause, I would much rather watch you pull your hair out trying to sort it out LOL.

Is that really a permanent solution? In the long run, that would be quite a cost saver from the shop computer efi tuneups (smoke and mirror tuneups?)

I have never seen any contraption device for efi to work before, except for subjective owners rationalizing their purchase; so how did all these experts here miss this revolutionary device?

Call the Presses! We'll all line up and kiss the KTM CEO's rear, and then beat all his 690 SMC R's at the track. Really, this WOULD be good news for TR650 owners for a one time cost of $459 shipped! Is this true??

This is a fun way to vent, it sounds like. Is anybody going to start a new topic on this, a gathering place so to speak, to strategize and formulate best responses etc?
