It is partially true. If the dash or ecu craps, the PC5 will not fix anything. The Micro Squirt is the only solution and it hasn't been developed fully for the specific application of the TR650.

What's the holdup? If like you eluded to before, it were only a $1200 fix, then to hell with bitching, ktm, husky, and/or bmw. It's not like anyone is going to change any specs later to interfere with the tuning design for TR650. Everyone (supposedly) driving all over the country for the latest moss program, lol: if bmw hasn't done it before, it is not happening. STOP, YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME!

BMW was changing mapping configurations on the f650 GS for it's whole life (1999 - 2007.) BMW is NOT very good at efi mappings from my (and other's) experience. You guys are expert racers, so I'd put my money on YOU way before I'd put it on BMW on a single cylinder efi solution. If YOU can't do it collectively, then it can't be done (Go Husky!) Hell, it sounds like you are almost there (?!?!?!?!)

If the MOSS machine is (?) about efi mappings, then that is only a small percentage of variability anyway, so... driving in the wrong rpm's, riding in the Rocky Mountain altitudes, or something else is more of a concern. Hint: no single efi especially or even twin vertical efi engine drives well or at all at lower rpms - get used to it.

And no one but lawyers are going to make anything off suing anyone collectively. So don't expend your time on impossible dreams, but rather on your expertise. You guys are the Best there are, hands down, in racing. DO IT!

I have personally used and use several EFI tuning devices, they work great. Not sure what you are talking about. IT I removed my JD EFI tuner from my TE511 it would hardly run. With it it is a rocket and runs fantastic.

Here is a better solution for all and maybe a good reason to buy a TR650. The DelOrto single carbs on 1997 KTM Duke should be a damn near equivalent (55hp, rotax, etc...) You just have to get a 2 into one intake manifold off the atv Bombardier (now Can AM) DS 650 (pre 2000 BMW F650 engine made until about 2008 with a single carb for torque.) The manifold used on ebay - $20, Del Orto carb (1 ea) once you get all the options sorted - $350, changes to cables/air filter plate - $70, tuning (on the most tunable del orto single carb) - priceless.

I think the results would be golden. All the electronic traps on the TR650 look like a huge money trap of dependability issues. You guys are the racing experts. Ask your dad or grand dad about Del Orto carbs, lol. What do you think??

As I have been asked this several times and have done a lot of research into this converting a EFI bike top carb is really hard. Lots going on to consider. I think this TR650 motor would rule with a Lectron on it.

Trouble with this approach is you can ban someone from posting on your page again. I did that with someone who was making my life miserable and he and his posts went away.

Three mock news stories, each from a different country, about three poor HUSQVARNA riders that got run over by trucks.

The police investigation concluded the bike stalled in an intersection in all three occasions.

Get creative, keep it legal, send it to Husky HQ.

Kiwiape, Long ago, I did much research on the matter. Pierer group was owned by Cross industries and now seems to be gobbled up by the Brain group. Pierer group bought Husky and also I believe owns Part of KTM. I think Bajaj or something (Indian Motorcycle Manufacture) like that has the other part of KTM. Bajaj supplies alot of the parts, and it was rumored would be supplying or working with peirer in making a new model for India, that allegedly would make it to the USA.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/10/14/brainforceholdingag-brief-idUSFWN0S801920141014

Any legal remedies have been well shielded in the corporate world, and I have had ZERO luck contacting the EU division that oversaw the sale of Husky and the Antitrust issues that had to be resolved. If you, being much more familiar with the Mother Land parliamentary procedures, could get a draft of the Antitrust proceedings, OR if you could contact them directly and explain how they are in violation of the Anti trust law, maybe they would pay attention.

I had recently sent off a few emails to different EU regulatory entities, and have not heard back. Seems that being in the USA we are no longer of any interest to the EU. (we kicked their asses awhile ago and they just won't forget and forgive.

And I thought I heard that it was these same entities that busted Microsofts chops, themz the peeps you need to find and lay out a well crafted complaint to.

Side bar: I cannot find "Dill Pickles". I talk to every store manager and bring up the same issue, pickles advertised and labeled "Dill Pickles", but in the ingredients there is not Dill. As I learn the distribution channels, I have been better focusing on who to complain to.

Well, other than getting one particular product pulled for ethnic reasons, I have had no luck getting dill pickles from any mainstream store. I can find dill pickles with hot peppers, but that is not a "dill pickle", but rather a spicy pickle. Finally I found a store manager who actually seems like gives a crap and seems like they will research and make contacts and ask the supply chain for a REAL dill pickle.

I seriously doubt I will see it in my lifetime, but I can hope. Unfortunately the FDA (food and drug administration of the USA) says they can mis label the product and they will not change it for me. There is no monitory benefit for them to change.

However, the EU may have monetary incentive in the form of fines for those violating the Terms of the Sale and Antitrust law. But as I said, they could give a hoot about us in the USA.

A lectron would be good for drag racing and blowing up difficult to tune engines.

i don't know what you mean "top carb", which the single carb should replace all; but I will just trust you are correct on an aspect of the Husky efi system controls I do not know or understand.

I've had a 2012 Kawasaki Versys 650 SuperMoto Tourer (A Ninja 650 vertical twin engine with a midrange cam) since Dec/2014 and it rocks. At 6K rpm, it sounds like it is changing gears. I will keep riding that until you guys figure out how to domesticate the TR650 Strada. I expect you will, but it does not look like it will be in the next few weeks.

    rride,

I had a Versys 650 when I got my TR650 Terra, but have sold it as I never rode it after getting the Terra
The Versys is a very good bike with a really great motor and near perfect EFI fueling.

If you are primarily a road rider, keep the Versys and stop considering the Strada.
However if you want/need the off road abilities that the TR650's offer over a bike like the Versys, please note not all of us have unresolved issues with these bikes.

I feel for those with issues as I went through very similar problems with a BMW 650.
I struggled about getting my Terra as I had vowed never to buy another BMW product again.
I had issues with that bike that BMW could not fix, but many folks who had the same bike did not have the same problems.

It is those with the issue that you see posting here most of the time and I think it gives an inflated view of the number of bikes with problems.
The fueling on my bike is what I will call acceptable, it is not perfect and could be improved, but it is also not bad or dangerous.
What this bike is capable of vs. any other bike currently available more than makes up for its minor flaws for me.

Yeah, I've got a 97 BMW 650ST, and it just kind of like sounds like the normal BMW F650 GS (and now G650 GS) low rpm single efi blues, and efi mapping is only a small percentage of change anyway; but efi mappng would be nice having it available, but as much as the TR650 single efi stretches performance metrics, MAYBE EFI tuning just does not get any better. The BMW F650 GS mapping was being changed constantly for 8 years straight and kept me from considering it, and then the engine was built in China after that. The TR650 is the first rotax (bmw) efi 650 I've wanted!

What I'm hoping I guess is to see someone REAL distressed so they sell a perfect one REAL cheap. Because, as you elude to, if it can beat the best KTM 690 racer off the shelf, so it can't be all that shabby no matter how much bitching and crying is going on. And it's not either or, but I want BOTH the Versys 650 and the TR650: I think they both rock.

STILL, if we moan and groan a little more in higher pitched sounds, maybe we can get a low mileage one for sale in California in the $3XXX range, or maybe $4XXX would work too :-)

I've also picked up a few stalling issues recently - typically on pull-off at lower revs. Sudden cut-out, not a case of revs just being too low. Caught me again as I was crossing a road yesterday am, 50m from my house and it was a cold morning (by SA standards , abt 5-7 Celcius). So the engine wasn't at full operating temp yet, even though I did let her idle while doing helmet and gloves, etc. She definitely wasn't hot.

Having previously contacted both BMW and KTM dealers here wrt servicing and being told neither of them work on Huskys (even with explaining that it had a BMW base motor), I am now getting really concerned. Actual Husky dealerships - non-existent. Only a few guys that seem to bring them in independently. Around the time I was looking, there was one Terra (now mine) and one Strada for sale, nationwide. So finding local knowledge is going to be a challenge. We also don't have all the resources/options like in the States. Loving the bike and I'm reasonably handy but I'm no mech expert. Sure, one can import something like PowerCommander, but it gets freakishly expensive with shipping and duties - and it's risky if I can't source a local bike tuning expert to help...

What I DO know, after swapping bikes with a friend during a ride out, is that I'm incredibly glad that I DIDN'T get an (F)650GS! My thoughts on it being too lame for me were confirmed.

So PLEASE keep this thread alive - I'll be watching!
