Hey just took delivery of my Terra last week....in the week ive had it home, Nova Scotia has had 40cm of snow.So needless to say its been in my shed :(. Ive been following this thread on the Booster plug and like the Booster plug site says it will lower the outside air temp display by 20 deg C. Which dosent bother me at all..Just wondering if the "possible ice" condition will also dislay on your dash, the snow flake symbol. Ex...if its 15 deg's out and it it tricks the system to say its 20degs lower outside to richin up the fuel system will it also display that symbol because it now belives its -5 degress out? has anyone seen this on the bikes which have it installed.

Yes, the snowflake shows up way early. You might just ignore it (I do) or not.

    Hi Big-T,
Are your pipes still stock standard? I have had mine cored out and now as soon as my Terra warms up it won't idle at all. The bike is now running very lean and I don't want to do any damage to it. I thought the oxygen sensor would compensate the change to the exhaust but apparently on the Terra it doesn't. I have had a BMW650 GS and an Xchallenge and they were fine after the exhaust mod. Consequently I cannot ride it until I have sorted the problem. I have contacted my dealer here in Australia but they told me that Husky doesn't have or is not releasing an upgraded fuel map for this model of bike. They said the only thing I can do is fit a power commander. Can you shed any light on what you guys have available in the states? I have ordered a booster plug which I hope will solve the 'running too lean & idle problem'. I hope I am on the right track here. I would appreciate your thoughts.
    Regards Cath

My pipes are stock. My thoughts would be to PARTIALLY plug the muffler outlets at idle and see if that cures the problem.Basically you will be restricting it back to the original flow.If it idles correctly, then you know the core job is what caused the problem and not something else that happened during the core job.

One of the things that used to solve idle problems for me was to turn the switch on and without starting slowly twist the throttle as far as it goes and return to idle stop position before starting. That allows the computer to relearn the throttle settings.

I spend a fair amount of time with solving driveability issues on cars and have found as time marches on, computerized vehicles are far more sensitive every year.I would expect in a few years and anything you do to one will create problems....:banghead:

If it isn't too inconvenient for you, I would like to add a +1 to kjackbrown and we would like to know how this goes every step of the way. Like Big-T mentions, these new computer systems seem to be getting more sensitive to mods. This is a perfect example. Very curious here. Hope the booster takes care of it for you. Good luck mate!

I'd break it in yourself. Your not saving time, your having the opportunity to break it in like Husky intended, and enjoying riding it while you do. 3 20 minute sessions of steady throttle / varying load is not the same as 600 miles of actual riding with varying throttle/load etc. That's more like 10-20 hours worth of varying load and RPM.

The correct place for the booster plug is on the left(clutch)side of the bike.

You can just see it peeking out from behind the frame here

I still have a lot of pop on decel, other than that I feel like the Strada fueling is pretty great. Might bite on one of these eventually. MAN, I am enjoying this bike!

I just installed the Wuka-King booster plug from ADVrider and did a quick 20 mile ride in between rain storms. The install was very simple and it takes 15 minutes or so. Overall I would say it has significantly improved the bike and is well worth the $90 asking price. I will also note that my bike was updated at the dealer when I purchased it 2 weeks and 800 miles ago (full MOSS update). My bike never had a stalling problem, but it used to occasionally stumble badly from a stop after riding the bike aggressively. It also had a bit of snatchiness at low speeds in the first 2 gears. Both of these issues are completely gone and throttle response is now smoother than the best carbs I have ever used. I tried out both switch positions, for -36F and -18F, and both were very smooth (65 degrees and humid). It did seem like the -36F was a bit too much and responsiveness above 4k RPM felt softer. In the higher RPM ranges I think you might lose just a touch of that sharp response that the Husky has, but I will need to use it in more varying weather to be sure.

Hey kjackbrown, I live in Vegas and own a strada. Been real busy lately and haven't had much time to deal with my bike. Did you make it to Vegas yet? My bike needs help, it has the bad throttle response and I'm getting the rough shifting(grinding) from 1st to 2nd gear. It's my first new bike experience and don't know much about power commanders.

Ditto, I went the Booster Plug route, No more poping on decel, no more, hicup on take off, cheaper then PC, also spark plug still looks clean.

Thanks Bill. I just got done with the break-in on my Strada and ordered one from the shop yesterday. $6 bucks shipping for priority mail was a very reasonable price too.

While the motorcycle has gotten a bit better the last 800 miles--I'm remembering the feeling of the demo Strada Bill and am sure the Plug will make my Strada "Go Up to Eleven!"

I really want to clear up the idol issue and piss poor throttle response from my Terra. My modded DR650 has harder pull from down low and way better snap:( .

It bugs me so much i've actually debated selling the bike, I shouldn't need to give it a blurp of throttle every few seconds at a stop or crank the engine over for seems like 10 revolutions before it starts on a cool morning, good thing it dosent have a kick start lol. Seems the more km I put on the bike the worse the idol gets but better the starting. 1400km logged now.

The MOSS at my dealer is a no go. Dosent have the computer and has no idea when they are getting it.

Im 50/50 on a PC or a booster plug, just find a $400 PC not including the auto tune a hard pill to swallow. The more I read these threads the more I get undecided, lol.

Both have great points and both have downfalls, mainly the $250 price difference.

I cant decide so my decision is left to you fine husky driving people. What do you recommend? Carbs I know pretty well FI systems is all greek to me.

Hey James, Sorry to hear your bike is not running good for you. Mine's not too bad but I went with a Booster Plug anyway after talking to BillF.

Haven't got around to installing it yet. This weekend for sure.
