I'm at around 5000' in hot weather this year and don't seem to have any problems. i use premium from safeway. Never been mossed. Does everyone know about this in the manual, startup procedure? It is underlined and in bold.
Hasenpfeffer- almost always use the procedure from the manual. Still have the stumbles and stalls. Was mossed two weeks ago and noticed no change. Not confident in the husky techs here though. Riding at sea level in CT only so far. Getting the WUKA this week hopefully. I'll report back after install. Thanks
I bought the unswitched WUKA and after 2 weeks of worrying over the install (not my strong point) I installed it using HighFives instructions. Its like a new bike now. I do wish now I would have got the switched version as I would like the 2 options for hot or cold days. Bought my TR at a dealer that does not seem to want to support Husky. Mine was never mossed with only slight stumble/stall problems.
Just installed the Wuka switch version. Now bike only will start with kickstand up... Anyone else see this. Idles smooth but cannot run engine with stand down.. Haven't gone for a ride yet, raining kinda hard.. Oh, and neutral light not working now either... Edit**** Shifted into 1st gear then back to neutral, neutral light now working and tarts with kickstand down... Going for a ride...
I had mine mossed last week, and first time out it had some serious problems. I called dealer and told them, and am to bring it back on Tuesday. Today, I fired it up and let it run while I geared up, locked the house etc, it didn't miss a tick. The first ride after the moss, we had high humidity and temps. I do not know what that equals in barometric pressure, but it was about 104 temp wise. Today it was under 100º. Back popping virtually gone, one, almost a stumble from closed throttle (engine maybe still cold), nothing like before. I bought the Wuka, have not installed yet, may not install it. I'm going to run a few tanks through it before I decide.
Hightechcoonass has an unconditional, satisfaction guarantee. Besides that, he seems like a very nice guy. I bet he would let you return your unswitched version and trade up to the switched version. I am very glad I have the switched version if for no other reason than even in the HOT position (red) on a cold day, it is still richer than stock and should show improvement. This might come in handy if I needed to stretch the range if MPG turns out to be affected. My Terra is smooth far beyond expectations with the Wuka King.
Buttoned it up and went for a ride. No stumble or stalls off idle. I can even start off with no throttle at all now. Idles much smoother now. Crisper response. Pretty easy install too... A little more popping when roll off throttle/engine braking. Over all running much better, well worth $85!
so, the only thing i've noticed about mine is that when i'm slowing down and i roll back the gas, its like the power goes from 50% to 40% to 30% to 20% to BAM zero. It's makes it hard to be smooth. it doesn't cut off or anything when leaving stoplights. is that what youre talking about when it's stumbling? i let it warm up for a while most times I ride it, it takes that long to put gear on.
I installed the Wuka King tonight. Test rode and came back mumbling profanities in the best kind of way. WOW! Everything others have said is spot on. Get one!
I have to run a few more tanks through, then I will install it, and see what I think. If the performance boost doesn't ding the fuel mileage too much, and is a nice performance upgrade, I will keep it. As it stands, it is very acceptable in current form. I doubt I could put a stock BMW engine in the bike and be happy, so once installed (wuka), I doubt it will come off, especially with the reviews so far. One never knows, I'm in AZ and our temps are much higher, and thus may not affect the performance as drastically. Right now, I'm getting around 60mpg. If the wuka gives me a fun factor that's worth 50 mpg, I'm ok. If it robs the mileage more than that, it comes off. I hear it is less than 6% so I should be fine.
Alright, I'm eating my words and buying a wuka, as I can't be buggered making my own, and the arse is falling out of the Aussie Dollar quicker than a fat kid downing a cupcake. I won't fit it til after the first service though
I installed the Booster Plug two weeks ago and have been getting 54 plus mpg on my commute (mostly hi-way).
I put the booster plug sensor inside the front "horns". The Boosterplug sensor cable easily reaches there. It is full force fresh air , protected and unobtrusive. 5 holes in the plastic that no one will ever notice if the sensor is removed. The back hole is ovalised to allow the cable a straight run and not kink. I don't think the airbox sensor would be all that much above ambient air temp. The std inlet is in a direct fresh air spot and the amount of air even at 30kph passing through the airbox would not allow the air to be heated by the inlet/airbox plastic much. Plastic has a crap thermal conductivity and at even 2000rpm the motor is drawing 650litres of air per minute through it.
I'd watch that location... although in will be in clean air...it also might be in direct sun light while riding.
I got my booster plug installed and after a week of riding I am glad I bought it. It does not stumble any more when I am leaving for work which was my biggest gripe about the bike. My fuel economy has suffered I was getting about 60mpg and now I am at about 55 so not hateful. Def worth it not have to have to sit and wait 3 minutes every time l get on the bike.
I rode a full tank of fuel today with my Wuka King plug. I was getting 4.2l/100km stock. On this tank I got 4.4l/100km. For the people who don't speak metric that was 54mpg stock and 52mpg with the plug installed.
I keep close track of fuel and mileage. From purchase my bike was MOSSed. I've filled up five times so far, four stock and the fifth tank was with the Wuka Plug. 53.5, 54.5, 56.4, 58.6 after the 4th tank I installed the Wuka Plug. The fifth fill up was at 822 miles and 61.1 mpg. I'm almost at 1000 miles now and will check the mileage again at the next fill up.
