Vaid point Huskydude. I will check it. Not so important now I am not in the tropics anymore but still... That is a very nice solution Jughead
Thought I would chime in. Stock Tr650, No Moss yet. Installed Dynojet PCV and first 2 rides were perfect, bike ran WAY better, idles smoother, has more power everywhere. Not a lot more but just smoother pull. Then third ride started having idling issue where it would idle up on its own to 3800. Interesting. Contacted the very nice people at Dynojet and they experienced the same issue after a few rides. The few rides before it happens thing is puzzling. Two days ago I installed the Autotune function and rode it some. Hanging idle is almost gone but did it twice. Bike runs great otherwise. Going to remove the canister next. Then install mufflers.
"I keep close track of fuel and mileage. From purchase my bike was MOSSed. I've filled up five times so far, four stock and the fifth tank was with the Wuka Plug. 53.5, 54.5, 56.4, 58.6 after the 4th tank I installed the Wuka Plug. The fifth fill up was at 822 miles and 61.1 mpg. I'm almost at 1000 miles now and will check the mileage again at the next fill up." Last fill up was 63.0. I'm not on and off the throttle as much now that the engine has bedded in and much of my riding is on slower 2 lane roads. By far the best single I've ever had compared to BSA, Matchless, Ducati, Yamaha, BMW, Honda, Kawasaki & Suzuki's.
Does the Booster/Wuka plugs wake these bikes up on the bottom end? Mine feels pretty dead just off idle for a 650 single Even blipping the throttle in neutral feels a bit disconnected. It runs out nice once past 2500 RPM, but below that it just does not feel like I am used to.
Yup! It really makes a big difference off the bottom - and seems to pull harder all the way through to the top. Best $90 you can spend IMHO.
Thanks, I only have about 500 miles on mine so far and "knock wood" it has not had any stalling issues. It has a nice soild 1500+ RPM idle and just a very slight bog at times around 2000. But its dead on the bottom.
I agree with Harder1.. These are the two most noticeable immediate improvements.. Additionally, i noticed there's a smoother idle just over 1500 rpm where prior to WUKA it fluctuated 1400 to almost 1600.. This is what i noticed on my bike anyway.. Some claim better mileage also but I don't really keep track of that.. My bike was "MOSSED" prior to delivery supposedly... However There is no way for me to confirm that it was.. Hope this is helpful...
Yes ! I used to be terrified when I split lanes to the front of red lights that I'd stall when the lights went green if I didn't give it a huge twist of the throttle prior to letting out any clutch. I've ridden about 600km with the wuka plug in now and I don't even think about it any more. There's absolutely no indication that the bike wants to stall off the line. Ultimate test for me was slowing down to 20kph (12MPH) in 2nd gear and then opening the throttle with no clutch. The bike just pulls away smoothly.
Listen up WUKA...BP & similar ... Your products make such a dramatic difference you should send them out to all TR buyers for a free trial. My bet is there'd be zero returned! In the past, some tuning devices have proved to be more "smoke & mirrors" not doing much except removing $ from my account...NOT THIS TIME, this bike needs this in order to run as it should! I guess the H men just couldn't make everybody happy. Fuel is crap in some countries and big brothers emission regulations play a role too I reckon...but they shoulda done better with the stock tune/map. Mine was better after Mossed but ....dangerous for a new rider especially just off the showroom floor. I delt with it but I'm used to riding hacks..lol
Well, I do think its worth the $90, but after 3 weeks and 4 tanks with the Wuka....it's not the cure all. I'm averaging 51mpg (that's excellent), and it is much better in the low end and on the throttle....but I still stall occasionally. Even with the Wuka, I observe the 3 minute warm up in the morning. The bike ran lean from the get go, it was mossed (improvement) and now the Wuka. Honestly, I'm looking forward to more reports on the PC5! I've been paying attention to all the PC5 threads and the PC website. I would have expected to see some sort of update to deal with this high idle issue. (Especially with the owner actually owning a Terra,) Regardless, I'm taking off the emissions crap ASAP. The Wuka definitely stays until the PC5 gets sorted out. To anybody on the fence, pull the trigger on the Wuka. I have the switcher, and I'll post more pics on my improved install. I'm waiting for some nice electrical finishing touches in the mail.
I have the Booster Plug and still have a slight stumble around 3,500 rpm. My dealer has the MOSS tool but I'm not convinced their mechanic has mastered it to it's fullest. By and large, I'm ecstatic with the bike.
When I did the canasterectomy I did notice an improvement in the lean spot...with the WK its gone and runs great. It feels like a normal bike now and after a few seconds of idle runs great. Now the motor can be trusted.
that canister and associated control vale seems to be a big part of the idle and running issues. A tech from Dynojet observed high pressures and releases from it on a completely stock bike that moved the AFR all over the map and caused erratic idle. The Dynojet PCV on the TR650 runs great but has a hanging idle issues at times. A few people have removed the canister and say it eliminated the issues. I will be removing mone soon to see. Here is a really nice how to if you feel you want to do this. Understand this probably void warranties and EPA things. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=20579601&postcount=197 Please report back if this works for you.
Removing it def. helped me I've been running the PCV and last night I added the AutoTune module to the TR. It is soooooooooo much smoother and consistant feeling...at any speed, in any gear, no matter what the throttle position, it just pulls and pulls and pulls
Motosportz, could you try disconnecting the canister control valve electrical plug, just as a test to see if that effectively does a canisterectomy, without having to actually remove everything? Mostly just curious to see if my assumptions about how it works are true.
Just installed the Wukaking Powercontroller withe the variable -20c/-10c degree switch. Haven't had it out on the road yet but holy smokes it idles perfect now. It was in the 70f's when I installed it and on the -20c setting she sounded like a dream. I hit the switch to the -10c setting and the idle instantly started to sound like the old idle, sort of rough and a couple stumbles. I cant believe I waited 4200 freaking miles to get this this....stupid Motosportz, that's interesting what you say about the canister really having an effect on the bike. I had all the plastics off for shits and giggle and sat staring the canister for what seemed like hours trying to will myself to take it off. I decided I wanted to wait until my warranty runs out. But now reading that I'm heavily reconsidering....ughhh decisions decisions.
As previously mentioned, Australian bikes do not have a canister and associated hardware but still suffer from symptoms listed. Could you please ask the DJ tech why this would still occur?
Hey Ebrake.. Glad to hear its running better. I keep the switch up/red even when temps are in the 80s and 90s F.. Where did you mount the temperature sensor?
