Thats the problem are they really worth the extra money, thought I had spent enough already to get a quality machine, maybe not !
ouch.... It's a great bike, but I'd like the extra power, better suspension, and slipper. Husky does look a lot better though
A friend at my work bought a 690 about a month before I picked up my 630. His 690 (with 450 miles on it now) has been to the dealer three times with clutch issues that are still not fixed - he is ready to dump the bike. Seems KTMs new bike reliability isn't any better than Husky even at the KTMs higher price. In over 1000 miles I have only seen the dealer once for a leaking seal around the fuel pump and Bill had it back to me in two days. I'm a satisfied customer.
I'll be honest, in all the bikes I've owned (all Japanese sportbikes except my TE630), this one has had the most problems. I still love it, though!
Touch wood, I haven't had a single problem with mine bar loose spokes tightened at the first service. Bought it new in June & now has 4,000km on it. No leaks, no loose bolts, rear sprocket bolts tight, uses no oil, starts first time, even in gear with a little perseverance... I wonder whether this may be partly due to how much care the dealer takes in the pre delivery process. I bought mine from Trooper Lu's, who are bike heads, & suspect I can thank them for this, particularly locktiting. I've owned one or two bikes made by each of the Jap manufactures bar Kawa, plus a Ducati, and this is the equal of any of them quality wise so far, and easily the most fun. It's an awesome bike and how I love that 6th gear, especially coming off a butt numbing DRZ...
Time will tell for me, had it confirmed yesterday that Husky are flying my new engine to the uk on monday dealer says it should be up and running wednesday. I agree the husky is a better looking bike than the KTM and if the build quality holds up I will have made the right choice. My dealer is also a BMW / Harley dealer so quality trained techs shouldn't be a problem. I am going to ask them to make sure everthing is tight before they hand it back to me. I have to say even after only doing 79 miles only i do miss it and cant wait to hand the BMW GS loaner back. Roll on next week
The 690 was originally my first choice but I'll admit I was very hesitant due to all the reported and documented problems. I read everything available about the 630 and FI 610 and any problems paled in comparison. That and over $3,000 less in price sealed the deal for me. 2,000 miles later, no buyers remorse at all, the right decision was made. _
Clutch accuator arm (don't know how to spell accuator) this "pushes" the push rod. The push rod goes through the mainshaft of the trans. This part acts like a camshaft to push the push rod and spread the clutch plates. Is it me or does this part look broken??
Here is the clutch pushrod. Notice the new one has a hex end on it versus round end for the old one. _
Finally got bike back today with brand new engine fitted. Gears seem really different to the first one these are ultra smooth....nice. Gave it a blat on my way home !!! lets hope this one holds out and I can now ehjoy my 630.
well its 5 weeks old now and i had it on the road for the first 7 days, it took them 4 weeks to get a new engine from italy mainly because the first engine they sent was a used one and both me and the dealer refused it and husky couldnt understand why !! Lets hope my problems are behind me know.
Man, that doesn't inspire confidence in their service (that they'd send a used engine, then take the position that it would be acceptable to do so...is that how it went down?) Glad you're back up and running.
