So did you replace the spark plugs? Remove the ball bearing from the fuel overflow valve near the fuel cap?
New spark plugs are incoming. The parts store didn't have anything, so I've ordered the once recommended earlier in the thread. Ball bearing from fuel overflow valve? I don't think that's been mentioned in the thread and it's not something I'm aware of. How could this effect the running of the engine?
Spark plugs might be the solution but a few of us have had issues with pressure buildup in the fuel tank. I don't know how or why it effects the running, but it does. It's a very simple job really and it's been detailed on ADV by HighFive I believe.
Yo, HighFive did a great piece on that. As ADV is down due to a software swapover at the moment, he allowed me to copy his posts just last week into a little AUS forum where a few local TR-owners hang out. http://www.austouring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5539 (might need signup!)
What does this pressure buildup do to the running of the bike? if it causes ridiculously high idles, then I may have that problem. Local Husky dealer takes months to get parts. Local BMW dealer just calls incompetent local husky dealer when I need information instead of answering questions. I'm convinced the idle air control is the same as what's in a the 650gs BMWs. I'm going to order one because of this: I've just changed the spark plugs. Bike actually idles now, which is fantastic! except the bike will stall every five seconds when cold, and then idle at 6k when warm. Then the exhaust begins to get so hot I can't even touch the cans.... Sitting here waiting for it to cool down so I can take the idle controller back out. Wtf.
