Okay, that price is just insane. There's no way that can be the standard retail price. Sounds like someone is trying to make a buck off it because it's hard to come by, now. Not saying it's the dealer where you're working, but somewhere along the line. I sure hope the BMW part works for you. Even at $241 it seems crazy expensive for what it is.
It is a no brainer, I would bet $$$ they will be identical. Just look at the 'electrical' connectors all over the bike, almost every one of them has 'BMW' logo. I consider BMW OEM Parts to be often over priced, but Husky is taking the p*ss at $1000+ for this.
No I do not have the part. The Husky dealer is 60 miles away from where I'm staying in California. They ordered the part from the BMW dealer across the street from their shop so it will be installed before I go down there again and hopefully the bike will be up and running.
I received a call from the Service Manager at 1630 PDT, last Saturday telling me the sensor relay was in the bike and it DID FIT correctly. They were going to button up the bike and take it for a test ride, but I doubt that happened since the shop was closing in 30 minutes. Anyway, I'm off to the train for a ride to San Diego. Here's hoping the bike runs as intended! I will update this post after I get the bike back.
Well the whole deal got put off a day. They thought there was another problem, but it was just a false reading. So the bike road-tested well today and I will try again tomorrow to get the bike back. Thanks again to all who recommended the BMW part. Even though it was $250.00, that is a whole lot better than the highway robbery price of $999.00 or $1300.00 USD I was quoted at first for the OEM Husqvarna pig tail sensor. Update: 01July15- I got the red-headed step child back and rode it 60 miles at freeway speeds. No issues, so the sensor relay must have been causing all the headaches. I might NEVER buy another Husky part, if I don't have to. The pricing is outrageous. For now, CASE CLOSED! (Edited after considering others' opinions).
I am very glad it seems to have worked out for you! Don't be too quick to discount looking at Husky parts. I have found most of the Husky parts are actually cheaper than the BMW alternative. Be sure to check both before buying.
