http://www.cyclenews.com/304/22186/Racing-Article/Webb-KOs-Tennessee-Knockout.aspx On a Beta Robert 2nd on Kawasaki Graffunder 3rd on Husky Gerston 4th Beta
Beta is really a no BS machine.... Taylor Robert is badass, I would not wish riding a KXF450 on anyone in that event or any of the extreme stuff that Taylor excels at with his Kaw. Nice mix of brands at the tip of the spear.....and zero podium Kato/Husa (wow) Think about it 3 Italian bikes and 1 Japanese in the top 4, thats quite a change from 15 years ago or even 10. Wow Sherco's WEC guy Planet in 5th nice, (which Sherco was Fab riding?) To add to the think about it list, 3 Italian built, 1 Japanese built and 1 French built bike in the top 5.
They just took the Vegas to Reno Race as well http://www.enduro360.com/2013/08/16/gone-racing/bitd-vegas-to-reno-unofficial-results/ But we are not to talk about the 'other' brands here right?
I mentioned Cory... Yeah, I could have spun it as Husky gets 3rd but....then the article tells the big story.
This is how it is supposed to work, see the word Husqvarna in 2 places? Those places are supposed to be Husqvarna specific: In this screen shot it does not show the word 'Husqvarna', though with a name 'Cafe Husky' the intent was to discuss Husqvarna motorcycles more than the other brands.
perhaps these alternate machine posts (Beta TM Racing, Kawasaki, Sherco Hondaetc etc) should simply be in the Cafe Diner off topic discussions? We are all moto heads and all this info is interesting to alot of us despite the brand.
If anyone wants to start threads in the Diner they can do that, and the threads would not be archived by the search engines. But as you say (most of us) like most things with 2 wheels & a motor. Eventually I will probably add a non-Husqvarna area, but that would probably be for technical things about the other bikes, as opposed to Racing or Newsroom type of threads.
Got it Coffee, I'm out. Kelly and Tinken can now jump for joy that there's getting to fewer who will challenge them on some of their hokey stuff.
what the heck? If I said something to piss you off tell me to F-off but no reason to leave. I'm one person just like you. OK, for me to have my feelings and opinions too right? I am not happy about husky becoming a KTM and it is showing but why should that piss you off? Also I don't understand the coming to a site and posting endless look how good another brand is posts. I don't go to the KTM or GG site and go on about how good huskys are and post race results. I do post lots of info about different bikes I find interesting. Don't feel bullied out by myself or Tinken, we just hove our opinions like anyone else here. I like Beta just fine, in fact I could see myself on one but this is a husky forum. Always thought your posts were good. Its all good as far as I am concerned. I'm guessing there is more to this and Rearwheeling is some of it?
Following that nice graphic..... Since this topic is in Racing (the 'non Husqvarna' area), then as long as we are talking about the races I dont think anyone is taking offense that Beta won a couple of events. And of course some of us have fond memories of Burson on a Husky. Husqvarna themselves released a press release on the TKO and admitted that they got third. My perception is that when someone tries to turn it into a victory dance that its a bit annoying. I dont wander into a KTM or Beta website and make a proclamation every time a Husky wins something. This week: a Beta won, a Husqvarna 3rd and KTM got bumped off the podium. Now SP still gets to say 'one of my brands made the podium at the TKO' !!
Thats my feeling as well. But I am one voice in a large group. Post whatever the mods feel is fine and just take my posts (and Tinkens too) with a grain of salt like anyone elses opinion. this whole thing (KTMS are now huskys) is rubbing me the wrong way but in the end it makes little difference to my life in general. Just kinda sucks we lost some choices and a unique brand.
I've been following this thread hoping you guys or someone will get back on track post some fresh video footage of the Tennessee Knockout. Helmet cam footage anyone??
I would like to take some exception with this part. While Im sure it wasnt your intent, that statement will get read by some as "post whatever the mods will let you get away with". IMHO what makes this site work is that the community has standards of civility which we all encourage others to follow. Coffee certainly tries to provide guidance and nudges, but in the end, if enough of us dont respect that community then the site will fail. Coffee and a handful of mods cant prevent chaos without using rather heavy handed tools. All of us together can set the tone for a place we actually want to return to every day.
How about a press release....Graffunder 3rd, he got close to someone in 2nd.....presumably there was a 1st Husqvarna's Cory Graffunder Tackles TKO Podium!Cory Graffunder rides his Husqvarna TXC310R to third overall podium finish at the muddy and technical 2013 Tennessee Knockout. Factory Husqvarna's Cory Graffunder parked his TXC310R on the TKO podium after a long day of battling through tough Tennessee conditions. Photo: Resmarket.com/Scott Cox Corona, CA - August 19, 2013 - Factory Husqvarna rider Cory Graffunder made the trek out to Sequatchie, Tennessee for the third annual Kenda Tennessee Knockout, America's toughest extreme enduro. Graffunder and his TXC310R tackled the wet and slippery course, and ended the day with a hard-fought third place finish at the Trials Training Center. "It was tough," Graffunder said. "It was really wet. It rained all night and the morning of the race it didn't dry out at all." The wet conditions actually played to Cory's advantage, and he admits he was "definitely stoked when it was raining. The rocks were slick and the dirt was clay - really slimy when it was wet. It would have been a completely different race if it was dry." Graffunder started the day off well by sailing through the qualifier races. "I just treated it like a trail ride and tried to conserve energy for the final," Cory explained. "Those courses were really tough but I just wanted to get through it all and find some energy for the final." His strategy paid off, and as rider after rider pulled off the course during the eight-lap final, Cory pressed forward into the top-three. Though he badgered Taylor Robert in the last half of the race for second place, Graffunder ultimately settled in for a close third at the end of the day. "I was pumped on that," Cory said. "They actually took some of the sections out because it was too difficult after all the rain. I was bummed at first because I thought I could have done better with more hard sections, but if they would have left the one hill climb in I don't know if we would have made it every lap. It was the perfect difficulty for that race."
