I replaced the cap on my original coil that had a so so spark and now you can actually hear the snap of the spark.
The web site of Vance Smith in Michigan (USA) says to open a plug gap up to 3X the normal gap and if the spark jumps that gap all is well. My bike now has a spark that jumps about a .25 inch gap and I can actually hear the spark. I think I am good on the spark from the Motpoplat at this point!

I am still scratching my head on the issue I had with the spare coil that belongs to my buddy as to why I could get readings with the cap and coil individually but not together. The new cap solved the issue but still leaves me wondering. I am thinking there was a broken connection inside of the cap that reconnected with the cap removed from the wire and then disconnected when screwed into the wire.

It sounds like the cap goes open circuit when you screw the lead in, could be the tension on the screw?

Don't know... For a $2 cap it is fixed.
