It was just a thought, and no, I've never been to NYC. But do understand the need for space, one of the reasons I left the suburbs a short time ago.
Do you work from home or what? i was thinking abotu getting a job at the coffee farm about 15 miles down the road running the watering irrigation systems for my uncle for soemthing to do. being unemployed gets boring after a while....
I commuted to work on the TR today for the first time I've ridden a bike to work in 8 years. I normallly work in the outer suburbs and drive my car, but today i'm in the city centre. My other bike is a DL1000 and way to cumbersome to lug around in bumper to bumper traffic. The Terra is so light and nimble. I hate coming into the city. It was actually fun riding to work today.
Usually I work from home, but everyday is different... Since you already have the TR650, seems like riding 15 miles in Hawaii might be the logical thing to do.
Yeah, but theres' that whole "get out of bed and go to work" thing that i'm not too keen on. getting out to go paddle or surf, sure, but working sucks!
I commuted for years to Manhattan on a KTM 620 RXC. Best way in ,quickest way to park...awesome. can't wait to go in on my TE310R
That is right where I work. Was just up there the other day looking around for some of our uninvited southern neighbors. I ride mine to work near every day, about 120 miles round trip.
I moto commute every day, but its probably not like the OP may be thinking of "commuting" Its 100% rural with dirt roads. The TR is not my only bike, I have the Versys and DRZ above. I could see that the TR could replace both of them and I am really strugging with what to do about that. I bought the TR because when I am on the Versys I struggle with the sand/mud. When I am on the DRZ, lots of paved road miles are tiresome. I keep trying to find the perfect do it all bike, I hope this is it.
I commute every day to work, 40km a day and use every weekend to trail the mountains, dirt or rough roads with bad pavements. In 4 months it has already more than 11.000km and it runs pretty well .. we buy the best motorbike all rounder for sure..
Very nice picture, Fer Quiles. Where is that in Spain? While living in Germany I used to ride to Spain for vacation a couple of times. Lots of great beaches and pretty girls.
New member here from San Diego. I sold my KTM 640 Adventure about a year ago after having way too many problems with it. I originally went to the dealer to pick up a Terra but admitted to myself that it'd really be a commuter bike for me (40 miles/day in heavy traffic) and I wanted the ABS the Strada offers. Since GP Motorcycles had the Terra and Strada for the same price I picked up the Strada.
I'm in San Diego County(Ramona), and commute daily. It's about 60 miles round trip. I had a KLR, and miss the big tank for commuting, but the Terra's handling/braking/acceleration, and styling more than make up for the extra trip to Chevron.
I commute daily, weather permitting! on the Terra. The car costs $14 a day to park and bikes are free. This is part of the reason the household financial controller approved the purchase!
I commute mon-fri to work about 50miles round trip and some times get time to go on a pleasure ride on Saturday. It has been raining everyday and with a full face modular helmet, icon boots, rain pants and jacket with gloves it is still a pleasure to ride even when there is 30 mph cross winds. I wax my helmet and even when cars can not see because its raining so hard I can still see pretty good. I have only owned 2 stroke big thumpers in the last 10 years and this bike on the street has impressed me so far but can not compare to other on road bikes.
80 miles one-way into Chicago, at least once a week, April - Nov. That's one tank round-trip. I can ride gravel, dirt, and two-rut roads for half of the ride! Averaging 56mpg, completely romping on the throttle. Windshield, hand guards, sheepskin seat cover, & cruise control all help. 80-90 mph on the Stevenson Exp, no problem(when it's not stopped anyway). I ride from 40F - 105F weather. Back-up bike is trusty 955 Tiger. My luxo-liner!
I bought mine specifically for commuting. 70 mile round trip into Downtown LA and back. I love it as my other two bikes are too big and heavy to do it efficiently.
