Cracked 09 TC450 Frame!?!?

Hi guys (and girls)

I was traveling on business and just got back. To get everyone on the same page. This bike belonged to Mike, he is the son of Butch who are the owners of Butch's husqvarna (http://www.butchshusqvarna.com/). I own a bunch of bikes which also includes Honda four strokes, an KTM LC4, VFR Intercepetor etc, I am also a marketing manager of a big manufacturing company that installs equipment accross the world...so my back ground is major technical and I am not an idiot when it comes to bikes. Mike raced in the North Dakota motocross series and his number was 274. I took a friend out there to look at the bike (he is also a big biker) and everything looked good on normal view of the bike...I never looked at the frame since I felt more at ease since it belonged to the owner. I asked 3 (three) times if there was anything wrong with the TC to their knowledge...and three (3) times they said no. The bike was actually pretty cheap and that made me wonder, but again, it belonged to the owner and I felt more at ease. I recently phoned the owner and told him the issue.....he aint doing shit about this and told me to weld it and it will be good. I am phoning him tomorrow and if he gives me the same bulshit I will contact Husqvarna, not becuase I am bitter that i bought the bike, but that he was not being honest and that he opened the opertunity to risk my safety when riding. I have never even ridden this bike and only started it the other day - actually started on the fourth kick after sitting for more than 4 months. The bike was sold for $2900, for a 09 TC450.....that was pretty cheap, and I should have thought about it more (but again - why would a DEALER lie?). I would'v have had no problem if he would'v told me that the frame was cracked and maybe worked on the price....but that was maybe why it was that cheap. One thing that is becoming more clear to me now, when I phoned him about the bike I told him that would be coming with cash and if he would look at dropping the price, "he said that he couldnt cut it by much but that "green" is always better and maybe a hundred or so". After viewing the TC I brought it up and he said NO, the price is firm...that is ok but being in marketing I knew that he planned it well......I drove 3 hours to get the bike, why would I go back without the bike after driving in total 6 hours for a meager $100?. Check Mate. I am a honest guy, and believe in paying the fair price if the product is fair. I fully understand that it is a used dirt bike, but I dont understand why people can not be honest.

I thought I saw an '08 frame on eBay...

this is bs, if it came out of the store it should have been looked over by one of the mechanics.....hope it gets worked out for ya.

thanks for the input guys. We have a serious welding department at work and I thought of showing the frame to the boys in welding to see if they can tig weld it. Think that will do the trick?

im sure your guys could fix it, but we all know thats not the point. crappy buisness on their end to say the least.

you are correct sir!, I agree 100%. I am not pissed about the cracks I am pissed about being lied to and taken advantage of.

And now I will do my best to make it so nobody I know will ever buy a bike there. He could have bought a replacement frmae for much less than this will end up costing him...

Hi guys, The dealer phoned me last night and after a long conversation it was decided that he will make up by giving discount on parts/accessories for said Husky to make up for the issue. As I told him, I do not want anything for free if I do not deserve it, I feel a little better about the hole thing and will send the frame to our welding department. He had seen the posts on Cafe Husky and must have been shocked by all the input. Information is a great thing. Thanks for everyones input and support. I feel more confident that I will remain in the Husky family.

Good to hear that you have the issue resolved. I was a bit shocked to see a D23 sponsor do this to a fellow rider.

You had no idea what you were talking about.

That's a double edge sword. While the web can be a great tool for honest folks to try and get remedy by telling the truth, it's also a great place for lying idiots with no clue to tear a business down for no legitimate reason. Just look at some of the negative feedback on Ebay as an example.

There is a very good chance that Husqvarna would replace the frame under goodwill warranty.

i dont know if this is the same type of deal my buddy got thought toyota but he discovered his old truck had a cracked frame when gettin tires put on it and toyota gave him kelly bluebook for it. i guess theres just some things that ARENT suppose to crack.....id give it a shot, you might end up with a new frame.

Toyota had a buy back on all early 97-2000 Tacomas due to frame rail rust and the potential of cracking. They purchased them back at 150% of Kelly blue book. They purchased my 2000 Tacoma that had 200K on the clicker for $11,400 several years ago. Yamaha has also good willed me a new PWC hull when mine broke from jumping waves back in 2002, well out of the warranty period.

That bad crack is right under the headstock and the other is down near the bottom of the frame front. That's come from either a front end smash and the bike's been rebuilt or as ray-ray said, some monster jump. Either way if it was me I would not ride it, even if repaired. You'd have to have the frame x-rayed for stress fractures in other areas even if it was welded. Bad.

What is amazing about these posts is, that did anybody think that maybe the poster posted before contacting dealer, does anybody think that in such a small husky world that a dealer would want to knowingly sell a bike like this. I hope everyone who is on the bashing side understands this. Also a dealer who is supporting the local ama chapter, lets get real. Was the bike purchased 5 months ago,probably, was it looked over probably, just remember just because we are hiding behinde screens doesn't mean slander with out probable cause doesn't happen.
