Im not sure what they call them, just had them at AOMC/ Ktmparts.com. I wish I had got the white ones as these reds don't match well.
Thats good news, but I'm glad to have cancelled as i'm not 100% convinced that the bars work as well as the Motech ones and £1oo cheaper which also sells them to me. Main concern with the Altrider ones is that it was underdeveloped which does ring the bells and the fact that others have said they hit the knees if you grip the tank! From an Engineering perspective, the 6 positions of clamping did not meet the grade and its good they have it sorted now, its good to see though that there are companies out in the World who are making accessories for this bike, long may it continue. My order was cancelled but had to find that on the European website, not even an email from them to confirm this, still it is Christmas
Hi everyone! I have the SWMotech crash bars fore and aft (actually SW Motech panier frames). They fit well (the occasional long bolt) and look the part. I have yet to crash test them but I am confident they will do the job.
Decided to go with the Happy Trail bars. Plenty of room with the the Ricochet skid plate. With the front mount design I might be able to mount a tool tube there. They also make some bags that mount to the hoops, but they're a little spendy.
Santi yo puse SW motech en plato y barras esperando. SKID PLATE SWMOTECH, very efective. crash bars waiting for.. also swmotech
I find myself deliberating on buying Altrider or SW-Motech crash bars for my Terra... Am I buying them because they look cool or because they will protect my bike in off-road crashes (little experience in putting the bike on the ground)? Please weigh in on your experience.
I have installed SW motech skidplate and crash bars. perfectly.. i was worried about hot pipe exhoust trap my leg in a road fall. now i am driving much confidence. I choosed best option motech.
I have, uhm, "Thrown her down the Road', and 'tested' the SW-Motech crash bars, along with the rear luggage hoops. Nothing broke off, and just a few scrapes on the crash bars, and left handlebar-end was all the damage. Shifter not even bent! I, too was mostly good, save a scratch on the helmet, and 6 broken ribs. Rode her home.
I have the Altrider bars. The only work they've had to do was to act as tiedown points for overnight ocean ride on an vehicle ferry, and they performed the job very well.
personally I think the SWM's are staunch enough to handle a slide down the road. Clay was a nice landing ;-)
