Sorry for derailing your thread Blazers. I'm notorious for hijacking threads :)
I cant wait to get into the airbox and open it up, I really cant. Anyone know of a good way to shear the head off of a couple bolts without creating a lot of heat or destroying to much plastic?

Drill a hole into the plastic and into the brass retainer --put in a small screwdriver or back of a pop rivet and hold while using a spanner in the other hand to loosen it --

I just bought one like that tonight --Eddy Seel Replica with a new motor in that i need to run in in perfect condition with a box of spares --from pistons -sprockets - and even sleeves to set the rake on the bike --going to keep it as my --Special Bike in the stable --that thing runs --117kg and 70hp ---never seen so much carbon on a bike --now if the 630 ran like that when i rode it today i would be in heaven --cant wait for the papers to go and pick it up ---Hell i think i will sleep in the workshop with it --

My gripe --is that should a dealer not have a standard bike as well as a uncorked one with all the mods done and set up for us to try them out and decide for ourselves what we want ---Like giving a bike to the media all chocked up and expecting to get a great RR--- btw i do feel that extra weight on the double cam when climbing off the 610 and getting on to the 630 --or maybe i am just imagining it.

Power up kit for the 630te-sm are reasonably cheap --the exhausts and the ECU are very pricey --about 2,000 dollars --the pipes can be decatted but they do not want to sell me the ECU seperately --sucks. Ends up to be a catch 22 for me -Easy and inexpensive to get the 610 to run well-

Blazes, were you happy with the 610 out of the box? Did you remove the 02 sensor/install the p/u kit? That is all I have done to my 630, well besides removal of the air box labrinth that was out when I got the bike. Your country doesn't have to worry about the labrinth so just need the p/u kit like the 610. CH member xymotic said he rode a fi 610 in stock form and thought it was broken. Master_E had to ditch the 38 rear on the 630 SMR. That's 2 fairly simple fixes that is only just over the $100 range. No "need" for a $1,000 exhaust for the extra 3hp, or a ECU. These 630's do run good uncorked. You just need to find one to ride to get the true impression of the motor.
Test rides/demo bikes is something that is not done in my neck of the woods. Lucky for those that have that luxury, be it on a stock or uncorked bike.

The airbox baffle is a plate with an S shaped channel molded into it . The opening is a rectangular 5/8" X 1 1/2". No trouble seeing this as a major intake restriction!
My 630 was pretty anemic for the first 1000KM. At that point I removed the intake restrictor, added power-up kit and changed gearing from 15/42 to 14/45. Felt like I dumped a 300lb passenger! Different beast all together! Have no idea of the horsepower but seat of the pants gain is at least 40%.

I see that. The Huskys are so strangled there ought to be an APB out. Think the f**k up is that spend lots, have a warranty and EXPECT. The emissions regs are the pitfall. If Husky could they would. I've ranted this when I shelled out on my brand new SMR but it's left to the owner to get the gains. Plus £££'s. It's worth it, better the bike you want than the restricted thing you buy. All praise to CH for giving us a chance to share the knowledge and shine the guiding light [IMG]

    Hi Xle

My 610te out the box was not bad at all at 1000km service i replaced the stock pipe with the Arrows one that comes with the PU kit --made the bike run very well after that and smooth. I must also mention that it was very tight for at least 3,000km. i now have 19,000 on it.

Please do not hear what i am not saying --i love the 630sm -my problem here is that i have to pay good money after spending hard earned cash to get a bike running better than a sewing machine -- i know it is all about the emission laws etc --but hell we have none of those hassles here --give me a discount on the bike goods that are purposely made to restrict it and give me a bike that can kick arse like it was intended to.
Problem we have with all the money thrown at them most people here have not got the knowledge --or maoney once they have purchased the bike and they run it down saying it is over rated --

I raced Husqvarna for 11 years --in those days bikes were --ready to race--stock

I am sure the 630 will be able to get there -- but the importer called me yesterday and said the only way i would get it to run properly is with the ECU -PIPES AND PU Kit installed --- asked him to bring one that has been done so we could have a head to head with my 610 --answer --i have not got one -

Yes and a Very Big THANK YOU CH for a dedicated and extreemely informative forum .. Because of this forum and research i did with all the pro's and con's on the 610 --i bought one -- knowing what to expect from it and not going in blindly [IMG]

So you don't have the emissions issues to deal with, I am reading that right?

This is Africa --none of them are enforced we even got 2007 XR 650R Honda's last year that came from where --who knows and Suzuki Dr650 that do not meet EU standards --SA is a dumping ground for goods that will not be accepted anywhere else in the world -- what next? will we be forced to ride electric bikes ?

But now we are getting off the subject -------------

That labyrinth was one of the first piece of my bike I received in the mail before it shipped. Hall's took it out for me. I didn't even know what it was at first.

That's still less restrictive than the 510's plate. Going by OP's post on SMJ it's made little difference taking that sucker out either??
