What about Larry Roesler did he mx prior to his desert days? If not have to vote for Malcolm, Bad Brad, and King Richard.
Bad Brad Lackey but my favourite is Pele Graunquist (not sure about spelling), it was great watching him dice with Gall and Gunter in Oz in the Pepsi MR Motocross series, Aussies will know what im talking about!
I will second Joe's picks....Andy Jefferson and Mickey Dymond, both were fav's of mine too. Plus, we all know what what Dymond went on to do.....
motocrossers Mark Blackwell. it was a brief stay on a husky as a career ending eye injury put plans to rest...
Malcolm Smith gets my vote-probably best/most versatile all time rider ever imho. What about Steve McQueen-he did a lot for the marque. In the GNCC Glen Kearney-not an American however.
Bad brad Lackey gets my vote as he was the one who got me interested in husky`s. Hieki Mikola was my fav across the pond. Sadly Lackey won the open class world championship in europe on a Suzuki I am still going to therapy for this.
Fun topic! If you want to limit it to the U.S.A., Kent Howerton was probably the most successful Husky rider. But the Grossi brothers should get a mention as well. Bob was one of the best in the early days...very fast! Billy was really the last competitive Husqvarna racer, riding a very stock twin-shocked machine against the Japanese one-off works bikes in the 500cc Nationals, circa 1981-82. He led a national, had some top three finishes, etc. Kent www.backtrackvideo.com
that speeks volumes right there.......... hes the man who road (bycicle) across iowa just for something to do. a local legend. some say on snowy days, if your careful, while walking quietly through the north east iowa woods. you just might be lucky enough to see a man wearing nothing but rainbow lycra and mounted upon his trusty WR250. with a GoPro mounted to his helmet, he is more then a myth, he is truly a legend with hours of video to document his natural abilities. there is rumors of a tragic rowing machine accident, but this iorn man can never be contained. resent talk has him babling with the black arts on a crf250x. if these rumors hold true it will be a truely sad day to be a husky owner in iowa..............
I do still race this '78 Husky. I plan on taking in a vintage mx event somewhere this year...maybe June in Sully, Iowa.
More info please..... did he ever get his pro licence and dice wuith the big names? (Not neccesary to be considered in this contest.... but more stories/ verbal support from those who know him help accuratly place him in the contest. dave
Sorry Dave, but it's a joke. Razor and I8AKTM were being bad, by throwing my name into the mix. The pics are of me, but the only people I can beat are Razor and I8AKTM. They are so jealous....
