Chain looks tight but there is a lot of slack when I checked it. Probably all the thick lube they put on it does not the chain sag more lol.

Yeah no farkles but birthday in October and Christmas will take care of that. Plus got off easy with the wife made a deal I get the skid plate, hand guards, maybe front windshield, foot pegs and she finished her arm sleeve for her birthday in December.

Rode the bike 25 miles changed the oil to conventional and see what every one was saying about the dipstick. Took it on and off several times and noticed if you start the thread it gets a little tight wiggle it as you turn works like butter. Moved the oil line clamp so it does not rub the plastics and this weekend going to brace the clutch line.

Fer Quiles- I understand exactly what you are saying I have been waiting 10 years for an updated xr650L with more power. Crazy this bike is one of the first bigger thumpers with fuel injection too. Rode it last night for 25 some what easy miles and enjoyed it waiting for the day to see what it does through 5 gears at redline. So far pleased with what it is and why I bought it. Glad it fits the bill since I did not see or ride one in person but months of research gave me an idea what to expect.

As for the oil just changed it last night for conventional oil until it breaks in then I will use Motul or maybe amsoil. Wish Royal Purple made some thing for motorcycles at least I have not found it yet. Used their oils for break in and regular oil changes in new automotive engines.

So other than change the oil line clamp, adjust chain, burp radiator, take the metal plate of the license plate (thanks for the reminder), and reroute or add a bracket for the clutch cable and is there any thing else to do on the bike that every one has noticed?

Seal the mud flap fasteners where they attach to the swing arm.
Water gets in there and has no outlet.
You might want to put some filter grease all around the air filter seal areas and check to see if the gasket on the door is sealed up well.
Mine had a decent sized gap and was letting sand in.

Also, if you see a bolt without yellow on it, check the torque.....they missed it on a few on mine on the forks and those without the yellow were loose.

Since you have already changed your oil this won’t apply to you, but a proper "hot" oil level check should be done on a new one as several here, myself included, have found them over full.

Just noticed that I'm not sure you have ever quoted a post, not a requirement but it does make things slightly easier.

I believe, winter time with temperatures below 20 degrees it is enaugh castrol 10w40.. i pretend to use for winter time.. in Spain..
    Somebody using Castrol??.

It is a great feeling to ride at 80 miles /h two persons and feeling enaugh power under to push you on. mostly when wind comes strong to your faces.

Yeah, there are more things, mainly Ride It. But while it is new, I put a screen protector over the gauges, before the plastic gets scratched. Seems to hold up well.

So I have done all the fixes. Now looking into the pc5 and autotune . Think I will wait until it has 1200 miles to install. Any one notice big difference or just better idle and driveability?

The rexxer is a better value and does alot more. $100 more, but you add nothing to the bike, no added weight, no extra cables and gismos to go south.

the problem with this thing as i see it is that their website doesn't really have that much information. there's no manual for it---just a file that say "hook it up and press the button"

How does it generate new maps?

I have no idea how it works, I just ran across it looking on feebay searching out TR650 stuff. This seems like it may be similar in concept to the other spoofers, except this seems to hook to the Oxygen sensor.

This is from the listing, Maybe just clever wording. I may contact the company next week. The reality for me is that I need the rexxer. This may be an option for others. I'd post the link to feebay, but them links usually die.

Quoting. it helps people understand wtf you're talking about.

Are you talking about the chip, or are you talking about the rexxer?

Let's discuss "need" versus "want", too....
