Okay, 650 miles, so I thought I would do a second oil change and replace the filter too. Running dino oil 'till about 1200 before switching to full synthetic. Time to check the valves. If you remove the tank and all the fasteners for the radiators and fan, the rad cores and hoses will move forward enough to get the valve cover off. 3 valves in spec, one intake is .18-.19mm, .17 goes .20 no-goes, so need the next size shim. Easy to pull the cam follower keeper spring and move the followers out of the way so you can pull the shim(s). Nice setup!

Yep, valves are a piece of cake. With my radiator guards in place, wrestling that valve cover off is a real bear, even if I undo the mounts so they'll swing out of the way a little. The biggest obstacle is the thermostat where all the hoses join together.

Just installed a 14 tooth countershaft and love it!
Did my second oil change at 1200km and used Rotela T 15w40 Dino and it shifts better and neutral is easy to find. Go figure?
At the first oil change I may have put too much oil in as I was getting some seepage out of the airbox.
On another note.. Footpeg almost fell off a while ago..I did a pre ride walk around but I never have had a footpeg come loose before, so Red loctite those bolts asap.. Sure I read it on here somewhere but neglected to do it..
Sprocket bolts have been fine.. Other 8mm head bolts on the engine have needed some attention.
Rad hose clamps needed a retourque as well as the water pump bolts.

Next up FMF q4 or a stock can gut and a JD powersurge!

    Hi all,
Have just decided to buy a 630 but am a little confused. In Australia does the bike require the PU mod? or is it only a American model prob? Im currently compiling a list of neccessary accesories for install before i ride it. This is a very informative thread!

Hi Mick, there are two models on Oz one LAMS and the other unrestricted. Contact Husky Australia and they can confirm from the serial number which model.
I have the non LAMS and installed the PU kit.

    Hi
I have just done my second oil change at 2500km, the dealer did the fist one. I noticed that there was a a lot of "fuzz"on the magnetic plug as well as some debris on the inlet screen's the screen on the clutch side was clean though, is this normal on the first few oil changes?. Also The bike was fitted with arrow pipes and ecu but looking at other threads I think that I have got the stock one still fitted the p/n is ECU181-A001A could someone please quote there up graded ECU p/n. As for the rest of the bike I am very pleased it is definitely an up grade from my xt660r.

Every model with a o2 sensor will require the PU mod to make it run way faster ;)

@Woolls I think the Arrows ECUs have a "HQ" in the upper right corner instead of "KH" or "KT", which can be found on the original ECUs. Not quite sure though.. didn't read a lot of stuff about the different ECUs recently..

I have nearly 9000 miles on mine and I still clean some shavings off of the plug and the screen at every oil change. It is a lot less than it was when the bike was new, though. I don't think it's anything to worry about.
