I know this thread is older, but has anyone found an aftermarket pipe delivers any benefit over a decatted stock pipe? If you have noticed any benefits, what are they?

Yes, do some research on this site. Put this entire string in google for better results (without the quotes): "site:www.cafehusky.com 449 511 FMF powercore pc4"

My findings were FMF PowerCore 4 + the standard "Quiet Insert" + a PowerCommander turned the bike into a rocket. Seriously, a rocket. I had a 511 and it was way too much bike for the tight single track I ride. One caveat of this is that with the standard insert it's really loud. I put the more restricted quiet insert in and it was at least bearable sound wise. I also had the autotune with my powercommander and remapped the entire thing after adding the more quiet, quiet insert and if it lost any, it barely lost any power. I really didn't notice any loss via seat of the pants dyno.

Just remember, you've been warned about the noise. If I buy a 449 in the future (which I'm kinda thinking of doing since I miss the dual-sport side of things), the first thing I'll get is the PC4 with the more quiet, quiet insert.

@Cosmokenny Thanks for that. I'm wondering how your setup would fare against a stock decatted can and the ZipTy racing ECU flash. Benefit to the latter being cheaper with added stealth.

That's what I started with. And I can tell you there's no comparison. If you don't want to spend as much you can get by with a JD Tuner. I got one used on this forum right after I got the FMF. It works good. But when I saw a used PowerCommander and AutoTune come up for sale here, I had to try it. It takes a while to get the PowerCommander dialed but once you do it's really good.

Start with the butterfly mod and adjust your TPS, after you decat. If you like it, keep it and save the $s for suspension work. Just be really careful decatting the stock muffler. It's a bitch to weld the stainless steel. If you like that, go for it. But the FMF same even more weight and you get the added power.

And... absolutely get rid of the ilde thingy. Cant remember what it's called, but its the thing you grind off on your throttle pully. The bike is just down right dangerous with that in place.
