HS#6 Myakka City 12/15/13- Rd 6 was held at the Carlton Ranch, another nice property with several creek crossings & every type of terrain FL has to offer. Talked with Swampds for a few minutes b4 the race. Got a so-so start & headed into the woods. I'm still learning a few things about this bike & it keeps getting better and better. Another 3 lap race on a 10.5mi course, ended up 11th on lap 1. Fell down in a muddy right-hander, letting 3-4 blue plates by. Even the tight stuff on the course flowed really well & I worked up to 5th by end of lap 2. Charged into the final lap seeing 4th up ahead, battling with Angel most of the lap. Got by & started to pull away, ending up 4th only 16sec behind 3rd & 17sec behind 2nd. My 3rd lap was the fastest in class for the day by 20 seconds!! Another 3 adv points, only need 2 more to go to "B", so a top 5 at RD7 will get me there. Have a 3wk break so will do a good once-over on the 310. Will post pics if I can find them, not as man photogs as last year out there.
Bike ran good but need to work on the timing and the clutch pull. Had to get a push start off the starting line and went into the words dead last. There were two classes on our row, Senior B and Vintage. I caught up to the slower bikes and started making some passes but stalled out four times on the tight corners and lost a lot of time getting restarted. Came in 13th place with 19 entered.
Street2dirt, who's hydration system are you using and how does it work? I lose a lot of time trying to find my hose. The system you are using looks pretty clean, minus the mishap of the hose coming off earlier this season.
I've always been a member, I keep trying to leave, but the fun factor keeps sucking me back in!!! I have to admit, I raced the quad Saturday and was going to race the bike Sunday, but the tired, old body said no way!!!
Hey there Fab, it's the one made for the Leatt brace. Will NEVER run w/o this unit again. You really can't even tell it's there. I let a fellow class rider connect it that day, & I still kid him about sabotaging me You can set it up to enter the front of the helmet making it completely hands-free. You can get the same unit with the Fly name on also, from Western Power Sports.
Brooksville race coming up January 4/5, 2014. Race number seven in the series. Our local FTR club is sponsoring this event so I'll be out there working the event.
Hey Tommyboy, you're club did as awesome job. The ground was perfect & the woods were gnarly, just the way I like it. I even got a decent start, 5th or 6th I think. Ended up lap 1 in 3rd, worked up to 2nd on lap 2, and battled with our class hole shot king on lap 3, finally passing him 1/2 mile from the finish. A very fun day, and with my 2nd place, it was my LAST RACE IN THE "C" CLASS. I am now officially promoted to "MASTER B" thanks mostly to my awesome TXC310. What a bike. Now I will REALLY need that suspension (paging Dr Tinken) upgrade & maybe a rekluse? to run with these "B" guys. Hope to get some good pics, I even cleared a double in the MX section!!!
Congratulations on your finish. I was working in the last ditch before the field section. I saw you ride past a number of times.
HS#12 Dade City FL-3/23/14 Finally my 1st race in Master B, missed a bunch of rounds due to setting up the Alligator Enduro. This is a good property to race on, some wet areas forced the club to use more open fields than usual. Got a decent mid-pack start & immediately realized that these guys don't play around. A fast & furious pace quickly caught my attention. Settled into a good flow until I dropped into a rut following a guy that fell over, had to wait for him to get going, no place to get out. Back up to speed, I notice there's not much traffic to work around. Row 8 is MUCH better than row 14, lol. With stock gearing my little 310 is NOT ready for the WFO field sections, so I take it easy & just lose the pack. About 2miles into the 3rd lap, I notice the back end not doing what I expect, & realize my back tire is going down, Dammit. So I figure what the hell, I have a new set of tires back at home, go for it. It made the rest of lap 3 & all of lap 4 a lotta fun as the rear was all over the place. Surprisingly my lap time didn't drop that much. Had a fun day, didn't fall down at all, & ended up 12th out of 25..... Now I know what I'm in for in "B", need to lose some tonnage & gear this TXC for higher speeds...
Nice start to the season. 12th out of 25 on you first B race is fantastic! We have a couple tracks that are wide open properties in our series and they are the best and funnest. I have a new Husky (mine is the orange version ) this year that I can't wait to get on those tracks. Congrats street2dirt and can't wait to see all the pics of the season and hear how the rest of it goes.
A few from 5/11 in Sumterville FL. My 2nd B race ending up 13th out of 21. Had a pretty good fall on last lap & let 3 class mates by. One more race on Memorial Day weekend, at the infamous Gatorback track. Hoping to get enuff points to sneak into the top 10 for year end in Master B.....
FTR 2013/2014 HS SERIES---- IT'S A WRAP Well I made it to the end, the last race at Gatorback was Sunday. Turn out was a little low due to the holiday weekend. Had 14 on the Master B line, an 8 mi loop with the MX & SX track included. Got an OK mid pack start, & worked up to 5th on lap 1. Fell on the SX section letting 2 by, then about the 6 mi mark, washed out the front with 4 classmates right on my tail, ARGGHH. You can't do that in this class, mistakes will cost ya'. So spent the last 2 laps working my way back to 8th. I will say, I SUCK on MX. It's 1 thing I need to work on this summer. Had a lot of fun this season, even with my mid-season promotion, I may sneak into the top 10 in points. The 310 worked awesome & the only changes I'll make will be suspension and maybe a rekluse. Also a regular trip to the local MX track will help immensely. Way too much fun.........
