• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

There was supposed to be a beefier rear rack to hold the factory supplied top box but when my dealer went to look up prices it said the package was not available. It was only as part of the luggage set too, not as a separate item. Let Pacificus get the Terra, It'll probably be the last bike he owns if he's 113 years old...

A very warm welcome one and all.

The goal of this site is to give a place for Husqvarna enthusiasts to have a place with a relaxed atmosphere to discuss whatever you want within reason – stories, trip reports, talk about the bikes, and whatever else may be on your mind. Non-Husqvarna owners are also welcome.

This is a High-Class forum – post accordingly. Attitude, helpfulness, spelling, punctuation, all count.

No need for negative comments.

Play nice Please.

Because it's made of plastic and will break easily.

Actually, I think evidence has shown that the rack is quite sturdy, and when used within the manufacturer specifications is quite adequate. A couple of people online have posted about broken racks. One had a gallon or more of fuel bolted to his. Another had a topbox mounted onto it. Both were travelling offroad if I recall correctly.

This rack was never designed to carry such loads, but it is fine when used as it was intended, as a convenient place to carry a small load, such as spare tube, some tools, air pump, whever else can fit inside a small tailbag. It might be completely inadequate to your requirements, but as has been seen through your other posts on the TR650, your requirements and expectations exceed those held by 99% of other TR650 owners and buyers. It's a cheap bike. It's not going to meet your expectations. It's not going to meet anyone's expectations unless those expectations are in line with buying a cheap bike. It's unreasonable to complain about the rack being incapable of carrying a load which it was never intended to carry. The TR650 exceeds most of my expectations!

Next you'll be complaining that the sidestand on the Terra has to travel too far to get to the floor because the suspension travel is too long...

Sorry, just tongue in cheek, not meant to cause offence. He's now said he's 99% sure he'll get one, so he'll be in the same boat as everyone else who wants a beefier rear rack. A bike is a number of pros and cons, just comes down to what you're willing to compromise on, and what you're able to adjust to suit your needs. If Pacificus gets the bike, and can get the fuel economy he desires from it, then he'll (hopefully) be one very happy camper. Just depends on whether the positives outweigh the negatives from his standpoint

Back to the fuel consumption topic, strangely, when I went for a ride on the weekend, I did 240km, and the fuel light didn't come on, but my consumption reading was up to something over 10L/100km, which would have had me run out of fuel before I got home. Need to put a few more tanks through it but at the moment I'm not putting any faith in that thing

Are we sure that this isn't just arbitrary?
Seems to me that spelling, grammar, and punctuation do not count in the majority of posts.
If you're going to call somebody out and quote "the rules", let's make sure that everybody follows them as published.

I re-wrote my response to try to make it more "friendly". So, feel free to clean up.

Trolling a forum by putting out irrational expectations and reviews must be acceptable in the rules?

I've come to think of cafehusky like living in Canada.
Everybody is polite, nice, and nobody says what they're really thinking. (and if they do, they get removed.)

Come to think of it, it's *exactly* like Canada!

Apparently, I'm offensive. So, I'll try to re-write it to keep it friendly. Logic is friendly, no?

Logic!? Logic has no place in an emotional discussion!!
You're offending me by trying to bring in this whole "logic" thing. Stop!! Tell me what I want to hear!
THIS IS CANADA!

Are you reading the gauge right Rob? It shows the total number of litres consumed, not the rate of consumption. You have to work that out in your head. You have to reset the trip meter and the fuel consumption every time you refuel.

Aha! That makes sense! :banghead: Cheers

These new fandangle things that I've never had on any vehicle before

My other bike has a pretty accurate fuel gauge, and will give a miles remaining estimate. I'd trade them both with a consumption indication like the TR650 has. I can do the math, and I want to know what I've got left using my methods, not the german software engineers methods. The consumption measurement on the TR650 is very accurate for me so far.

No, that is not acceptable, and clearly the person that started this thread should not have stated the "rear rack is nasty" which required further queries to find out what they meant. There were other things not good as well.

For the record, when it comes to things like this, it takes time, which is a commodity I have little of these days. In addition, people should be given the benefit doubt when possible.

It's best in life to ignore things that should be ignored.

The rules apply to everyone, especially myself. The "rules" you are referring to are actually notes to myself long before this site open as to how I should treat others.
For the record "High Class" is a relative term, it was meant to keep the "text speak" to a minimum, and to encourage people to treat each other with a modicum of decency - at least compared to other places on the internet, as opposed to how someone would act in an academic class in a "finishing school".

No one has the time to monitor every post, if you feel something needs addressing click on the Housekeeping button.

Ok, I edited this thread slightly so it would make some sense, lets see if there is hope for this thread.

Hahahahahahahaha........
See, it's EXACTLY like Canada!
I'm surprised you didn't say "Stop/Arret."

When it comes to things like this, it takes time, which is a commodity I have little of these days.

Oh. Well, you must be super important then. Or have piss-poor time management skills.

It takes "time", to do what exactly? Enforce your suggestions regarding acceptable patterns of behavior?
Really?
That's your totalitarian choice and you should live with the constraints required thereof without whining about how it take too much of your time.

What happens if you don't enforce your suggestions? Somebody might say something offensive.
So what? It's an internet forum. Society won't break down. Wars will not start.
But really, what will happen? Nothing. Nothing at all. People will whine to you a bit. So what? Grow a pair and tell them to do the same.

There's that choice you're faced with. You can take the time and force your politeness suggestions down the throats of your users RCMP style. Realize that will take time and micro-management action on your part.

Or you can not take the time. Recognize and accept people that will say things that offend you, say things that you don't want to hear, and not follow your suggestions on behavior.
That's really OK.

But for eff's sake, if you're going to enforce your arbitrary suggestions, don't whine about the time it takes.

It's best in life to ignore things that should be ignored.

Exactly. Take your own advice and get off your pedestal.
