I raised the clip one dropping the needle. the clip is now at the upper most setting. made no difference. the plug is a perfect brown. that is what's tgrowing me off. i might just ring the thing to. Won't dropping the clip..raising the needle...lean it out? As in add more air?

Turn the air screw in 1/2 turn and see if there's any improvement

see if autozone or advance rents compression gauges...its hard to have a 2 stroke and not have maybe the most important diagnostic tool the bike needs. you can really chase alot of stuff only to find it has 80 psi. what it feels like at the kicker means nothing, different bikes have different gearing in the kicker along with different lengths of kickers...
when you think of these carbs you have to think about FUEL not AIR. raising the needle lets in more fuel quicker...you arent pulling air from the float bowl, you are pulling fuel

Raising the clip, drops the needle and makes for a leaner mix. Did you want to go leaner? If not, you need to raise the needle by dropping the clip into a lower groove. Then the midrange mix will be richer.

That's cool! Great that you've isolated the problem. Shout if you need input on fine tuning the pilot circuit.

Ok update. when i got the bike the needle clip was second notch from the top. I've gradually gone down to second from the bottom and BAM !!! runs great! Will do some fine tuning. but Im very happy. Im a john deere mechanic learning a New animal. its a fun process and Yinz are super helpful!

Took the words right out of my mouth. Low compression will make it kinda hard to start and make the kind of power you describe.
