Don't remind me of that coming head ache. So far it doesn't work correctly either.

Oh come on back in 93 I bought a new husky wxe 250 if my mind serves me correctly. I believe it had showa suspension and the worst I had ever had on a bike. I mean bad! After 3 trips to the emergency room 2 lost jobs and not a single trophy for the year. Yes the year! I read somewhere you could mail your suspension out. So I did so. Also stripped the worked bike and painted the frame lime green and put WOR racing graphics on it and a few trinkets that winter. Spring came and presto I could not lose!!! Overall b and a boatload of firsts hec I even foulded a plug (used to run my bikes fat) and if you remember back then they had a real tank and low seat with no room to get to the plug! Still got first! Lol. My point is I'm sure they can be made to work without getting to crazy....... it will all pan out. But sure does seem to be a love hate relationship which makes me wonder....jay has some experience with these forks I'll see how they feel and hope for the best!!! If they are supposed to be the premium bike line then should they not get the premium fork????

Ha ha funny! But on a serious note I'm confident you will get those forks dialed and rock and roll! The up top clickers are sweet ! Not sure if I remember correctly but I thought my 96 husky had a conventional (small tube up) zoke with the same feature!?? Awe I've mellowed a bit. But its not funny when my wife and son are accusing me of buying a white blue and yellow KTM with Husqvarna decals.......

Ty has your suspension apart, but trying to figure out how to fix them. Ty said they are damaged and needs to order missing part.

Here's Chilly White's review of these forks off the new 501 dual-sports:
For me, the suspension is a split decision. The 4CS has not improved much since the original introduction. It shows promise, but is still unfulfilled. It is wonderful in many situations. As long as there is no weight on the front end, it tracks through rocks and ruts with amazing ease. But once there is weight on the front end, either from braking or body position, it sits too low in the stroke and packs up. The action starts to get harsh and it loses traction.
Admittedly, the spring rates on the dual sport models are very light. But in general this impression is just the same as we had on the 450xcf we last tested. I am not sure just where Austria is on this fork. None of the US factory level race teams use it. There is a rumored WP air fork on the horizon. So I am not sure how much new R&D is directed to it. Frankly I need to get a bike equipped with it and do a true re-valve to see what can be accomplished. But in stock condition, WP open chamber fork is better overall for enduro.

The 4cs are okay, but they made the 4th chamber way too small. It needs to be either larger, added on outside the fork or converted to a 5th chamber like we did.

PS further research determines all the top tier enduro guys are using the factory cone valve kit set up on their machines.....no 4CS.

Bike is back in the garage, very subtley (sp?) Ty got me to buy a GT216AA........ front, I swear it looks as wide as the 140/80-18 I have in my garage (this will be interesting) My tires will be GT216AA(HB) and a Pirelli scorpion pro FIM Rear both with mousses.
and with the 4CS set up intact but with ZipTy tweaks, no control group science...big fat tire with big fat ZipTy 4CS set up all in one mod. May also add my shelved GPR V4 into the equation.

4CS is intact, will stuff the mousse Ty gave me a cut section to jam in between my sliced whole mousse, GT best be making a proper sized mousse for this Fat tire.

    Tire is marked 216AA(HB)

Good luck and keep us.posted I'm confident you will get that puppy dialed in! The 4cs may be.perfect for someone else! Hec I like dialed in 45mm zokes and felt the smaller fork may provide more flex which is a good thing in the woods! Thanks for the info. Picking up the new ride on Friday or sat...

When all this stuff gets in my head I start thinking like crazy...what if what if? what if the these beautiful billet cnc triple clamps are just to dang stiff causing harsh feeling.....(shut up mind)
I have email traffic between me, Randy at GPR and Jason at Flexxbars, so after some more playing my "keep the bike as naked(OEM stock) as possible" mantra may go out the window.
With the end of my time with the TXC450 into both my 310s the GPR V4 went onto the shelf, but with this machine Im really thinking to throw it on.
Another bit of info from Ty, for 2T machines he mentioned (not a recommendation only personal pref) short sag @ 25mm static and at or below 100mm race sag. I have always gone for low numbers rather than higher numbers I even had my KTM250 2T PDS bike at 99/100mm race with 33 static, all my 4 strokes have been at or a little below 35mm static with right at 100mm race. My TE300 sits at @36mm static 103 race sag.
I will add another turn into my TE300 spring Im still below 10mm preload on the spring collar @ 7mm. PS for info I use a tailors tape measure to keep tabs on my spring preload, the spring was accurate at 260mm OA un loaded per spec, with the tape I can get a good read on the spring as it is now mounted and preloaded with the collar its @ 253 = 7mm preloaded. the rule says no more than 10mm so I have 3mm to play with!!
