Im trying to stay away from oak hills....they always sell me stuff there.....good thing is everything they sell me is top tier, no bs stuff.
Me personally I wont run mousse's I'll stick to my Bridgestone UHD tube with one around the outside..... just had bad experiences with mousses.... Anyways.... I'm getting set up so I can sell this tyre..... cant wait because I like the look.... Rob... Where is the Ty fork thread? whats he doing so special?
Probably this one - http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/zipty-racing-4cs-mod-suspension-a.46932/page-2#post-460978
Truth is my fork really is no longer a 4CS, its got REB on Top and Comp on the bottom, its more of a conventioanl set up now. it now has some "cool" looking base valves installed at the bottom of both forks, in a blue anodized finish. As I mentioned I did not care how and what to be done as long as it works and wow does it work for what i am riding 90% of the time.
lets get back over to the fork thread, its just spot on man...Its exactly what I was looking for and knowing what it should feel like for me.
I'm getting a bit more seat time and liking this tire. Went out for about 3 hours of varied single track, two track, and fire roads around Lake Crowley (Mammoth Lakes area) with a local rider. Lots of soft silty stuff on the uphills (whoops too) and downhills and a fun area of lakebed to experience.
Dont run to low pressure in the fatty. I did this initally thinking big tire = less PSI but really it seems to like more. I typically run 12 front and this one I run 12-15. It still feels forgiving with high pressures and wanders less.
Im down with that, because the mousse is 12-13 as new right now and the tire is very good on everything. I think it will roll a lot at lower pressure or beat down mousse "pressure". happy now one less thing to think about, no front tire change for Tecate Im good to go as is mousse is a a few rides broken in tire is more than good.
I'll give that a try. I'm running this tire and I'm not feeling it. I'm especially have trouble under braking. Feels like the front wants to tuck under braking easier than I think it should. Is anyone running the Vee Rubber 140? I've heard good things about that too.
Yea Graham Jarvis uses the FIM style one, both the standard compound and the gummy. the 140/80-18 that looks like all the other FIM ECO knobby rears from Pirelli to Michelin to metzeler. Also café inmate Ajax ran a GT gummy 140/80-18 on his tiddler 165cc CR125 King of Motos bike.
From Chilly's comments on Enduro360's Review of the aa.. "Chilly says: October 14, 2014 at 7:07 am Hi Mark I am just back from 4 days in Baja using this tire and the matching Goldentyre 216 rear. I happened to have a rear here from when Jarvis came last winter, so I figured I would use it up. It works fine, but is not the longest lasting rear for our terrain. So I am not quite sure what to suggest. I would probably go with my regular choice, the Kenda Parker DT or Kenda Trakmaster if you want a value tire that will last a long time." http://www.enduro360.com/2014/08/19/products-tested/golden-tyre-gt216aa-front-review/
About the only thing I can add to all the superlatives that have been made about this tire is how long it lasts. I now have 8 very rocky rides on mine and it is still in awesome condition and still maintains its fantastic grip. Great tire and now my favorite and well worth the price.
I personally hate every Vee Rubber tire I have had the displeasure to use. I just got an older Berg FE501 with a new one on the rear. We will see, not expecting to like it but it is s rear so will run it.
