john i will be up at the westchec anza race with the te300 on 18may, you are welcome to ride all day. i would offer it up to race but i will have my number on it for the entry so it will be logistically tough to do. i am rolling off the line then abandoning the course. also we can meet down here or i can come up and visit so you can take some time to meet the austrian husky, the spring rates should be perfect for your weight.

I feel your pain...I had a tibial plateau fracure and torn MCL last Oct from a sand dunes trip...20 week recovery time. 2nd broken leg from a bike. 1st one I still have the rod through my tibia and pins in knee and ankle. Riding injuries suck but it's always a risk. I'm writing this as I sit on the couch with my knee elevated. I rode hard yesterday and my knee apparently is letting me know today all still isn't well inside. Good luck, hope it heals for you so you can ride again with no pain.

I feel you. I am out for 6 weeks as well from an injury. Got surgery and have 3-4 more weeks to go. I had a piece of a pipette bury itself down in my hand and had to have it surgically removed after the emergency room stictched me up and left it in there (they never did an x-ray ). Severed a nerve and artery and now cant feel my left index finger (my clutch finger! ugh....). So I know how your feeling robertaccio. I start my bike everyday and Im just patiently waiting to get back on it.

looking at the 498 myself and am fitting the power commander 5 with autotune to my TC449 in my G450X now. the thing is I can't get anybody to ride with me now locally. Its just not realistic to go buy another dirt bike right now. I'm sure I could get some volunteers to ride one or the other but have been down that road a few times before with my Maico's and Quads in the old days and guess who always flipped the bill and fixed them???

I hope your arm heals correctly my friend. I had to have an open reduction done twice on mine to get it straight and the first plate on my radius removed and they reinstalled a different one on the radius just to get the ulna correctly lined up. I have the old one in a bag. I then had to have 4 screws removed because they were sticking through the other side of the bone reuseing the old holes I guess from the first plate they took out. thats why they call it a Medical practice. Stripped hole=longer screw. Like hanging a door I guess.

Looks like your well on your way to recovery. I was riding my Harley the day after having the screws removed from my wrist with my arm all bandaged up.

I dig the Bike, I can't wait to get one.

PS note the bike I was on had the black DLC coated fork sliders, I think they all do now.

I thought the DLC coating was on the race versions as standard equipment or you had to pay a bit more for the Zokes with the DLC. maybe that was last years model. The new one I've looked at doesn't have the DLC and its a new version and they are the red Zoke Shivers as pictured. I remember seeing the option on the 'Build your own Beta" paper work which scared me back into reality momentarily.

ok maybe he ordered the black DLC sliders, his 450 is a full boat BYOB RR-Race version. Looks like he's going to Travis at TBT to have his final suspension settings dialed in.

I fractured my left wrist last June. Lowsided the bike, but I went over the top. It was a street accident on my F800GS. The rear came around 180 degrees on a right hander and the bike slid backwards uphill on Highway 9. I must have hit some coolant or something. I went back and looked to see what I hit, but didn't find anything. I barrel rolled at least a half dozen times at about 60mph. I was in fully armored quality mesh street gear. I had enough time to have three thoughts...

    1) Whoa, I'm rolling.
    2) Shit my visor broke, I hope it doesn't poke my face... well, not like I can do shit about it while I'm rolling...
    3) Wow, I'm STILL rolling

The radial bone fractured and there was some concern the scaphoid was as well. The expert that I went to (I went to an urgent care for original x-rays) said it was fine. No surgery for me. The bone didn't completely break off, so I just got a cast. I wish it had completely broken. EVERYONE I know that's broken a wrist and needed pins, plates, etc and had surgery was doing more stuff sooner and regained full range of motion.

It's been 10.5 months now. I lost 20 degrees flex in my left wrist. I can't do a push up now because I can't flex the wrist enough. And my thumb joint got slammed. The wrist broke when the bike went down on the right side. The bars hit and snapped them the other direction - INTO my left wrist. That really did a number on my basal thumb joint. I used to play guitar a lot. It's difficult to play for more than 20 minutes or so now. I'm tempted to break it good and get surgery done so I can get range of motion back.

After a few months of not too much pain, I'm suddenly getting soreness and pain in the wrist (not the thumb). I may be due for surgery anyways. If it keeps up much longer, I'll go see a doc about it.

I'm really bummed about the guitar thing. I can still play at least, but I've played since 1969 when I was in 5th grade. I was semi-pro for a while in the 80s, but now I just play at home for myself and I like to create original music. That's not going to be as easy anymore. For a while it looked like I might have to give up playing entirely and that seriously bummed me out. It'd be like having to give up riding. Might as well ask me to give up breathing.

I hope your recovery is more complete than mine, Robert. I never thought a fractured wrist would be much of a problem. Hopefully it won't be more than three months on inconvenience for you.

again not a like button but, but an I sympathize with you.
mine is nowhere that bad. I recommenda complete reassesment, mri etc. and get a good hand wrist specialist to get you dialed in. One of our extended crew had a couple of not so good surgeries on his wrist from a moto thing. he finally got the right job done and is back in the game again. need a good mechanic (doc). his wrist looks scarred and frankenstein-ish but is fully functional with some range of motion limitations. but really good to go.

I decided id upload my xray as well. Look between my index and middle finger. That's a 1 inch long piece of pipette. This was left in my hand for 6 days AFTER leaving the emergency room because they did not do an xray at the ER.
