This is def. something to consider. I almost ordered the dual setup twice today...both times someone ran into my cube and interupted me with some "emergency" that they needed help with. Maybe it is a sign that I need to reconsider and go single
Hey Toy, Do you know if yours has a catalyst in it? The eBay adds seem to make it sound like it is an option (that I am not really interested in) and want to make sure that when I order they don't automatically add it. Also, did yours come with a spark arrestor? I believe I read in the other GPR thread that system shipped to USA will not have a catalyst, but will instead come with a spark arrestor. True?
Wrong that I was, after seeing a picture of the original pipe with cat removed on this Forum have now worked out that the spark arrestor is indeed a cat which lies before the exhaust.
my GPR exhaust arrived today..... will install tonight and post pics and my opinion on the single conversion.
Definitely no catalyst. It did come with a spark arrest-er. Has a removable rear baffle that allegedly acts as one but it also has one that fits in front of the can. Will post a pic of it.
My GPR came with a verry small CAT. it fits inbetween the muffler and mid pipe. when this exhaust is wide open (no mid pipe baffle no cat and baffle removed from muffler) it is a true open pipe set up and it is very loud..now i like loud and i put the cat in and very little change in sound and no change in performance with it in. Still very loud, I put the muffler baffle back in cause it was vibrating my inner ear at high rpm. yes that loud. today i am going to install the mid pipe baffle and remove the muffler baffle again to see what it sounds like. by the way the muffler is well worth the money. more power and sound.
View attachment 33443 View attachment 33443 Well thanks. Ok, since you asked......Both 1975 850 with Electric start (assist). Red one has 2100 miles and in the house on display. The black one is a 1975 but is a Hi rider with 2800 original miles and it actually runs. It will be getting either the roadster tank/seat etc treatment or Interstate. Trying to find a steel tank for either model now.....
That spark arrester looks a bit restrictive. I might just try and mod up a stainless strainer like I have done with the stock exhaust instead of using the one you show in your post.
I was actually thinking of just leaving it out to be honest, but nt 100 percent sure. Option would be to just drill the heck out of this one and I think it would be ok. Sky's the limit on how many and size holes. Might be easier in the long run rather than fabricate something. Just a thought.
Yeah, you might be right. The strainer kit I got from Wallmart, for the mod to my stock exhaust, had a bunch of them in it so I was just thinking I might finally use another one. I'll look at it closer when I get the pipe.
I would love to own one like that reddin, sure is a gorgeous machine. She must be missing her home land in Blighty and I am a great foster parent .
