GROSSI CR500 PROTO TYPE

im trying to get some clearer pics,if you look at the pic you have circled you can only just see the gusset under the shocker mount but its there,i will post another picture of mine tonight and the id stamp

engine stripped today on the proto,87mm bore size,wiseco piston and 6speed as the spec sheet suggested in the aug 82 mag.all internals like new but hole the size of kansas in the bottom of the right crank case.

hey...why does the hole have to be the size of Kansas? How about the size of Wales or something from UK? Geez....LOL

proto type tank gone for painting today,needs to be shiny if the bikes going to live in the lounge!! though she did say if that bike comes in the house im off! im gonna miss her!and whos going to dust it?

hi i took the pic from google when the bike was for sale in the states,if you get a chance just google cr500 proto type and you should find the original adds.

There is no motor number or frame number on this bike. The frame is stamped on the neck "Husqvarna EXP Photo" The motor has been engraved on the rear of the right inner case "4380" This (what we think is an 84 CR500) is offered as a restorable core. It is not running. The right rear frame rail is broken off and missing. The motor is froze and there is a hole in the bottom of the case indicating that there is some internal injury. We did not remove the cylinder, head or side covers. It seems to be wired for lights as evidenced by the wiring at the triple clamps. Both rims are cracked but the hubs and spokes look good. The Ohlins shocks have good shafts but are leaking slightly. The fork tubes look good but the seals are leaking. The bike appears to be a prototype judging from the double leading front plate and the fork color. There is also a double shock mount feature on the swingarm. This is a project and worthy of restoration.

thanks for finding that!as you see the old girl had been upgraded in the day with the 84 tank seat and rear itc shocks.still had 82 mud guards and you can see the frame stamp now its been dipped!not sure if it ran in the day with the brake bar bolted through with the same bolt as bolts the rear brake leaver as it shows,looking hard for pictures of the right side of the grossi bike!

Does anybody know of a source for those black and rounded side-covers?

we are using black 83 panels and trimming them up and with a little heat from a paint gun forming a lip.andy at hva will sort you a set or dc plastics!they look good!

Michel, do you have a photo of the right side of the chris bigalow 250, I would like to see how his footpeg and brake work

exciting news today,billy grossi emailed me to confirm this is the early prototype! ridden a handful of times before megoo landed on him on a double! can we get the legend to the des nations for a lap of honour????????????????? he says hes taken a beating over the years and couldnt race. surely 1 of the greats.
