Past Paril, which is a hub to many destinations in my ~immediate riding area, is Guba. 1 word, 2 syllables, 4 letters. Guba. Rhymes with cuba. Guba is sort of a destination of the Talamban riders for lunch and bike repairs. Here are a few sights along the way to Guba. I really like this home and its location Cool downhill leading to a creek crossing Couple of local farmers plowing a field together Mountain gas station 08 TXC250 x
Looks like a great place to make a small MX course and log some air time. Really cool section here; leads to hilltop with a charcoal mine; Charcoal mine Cool 'packed' rock road Another creek
Small barangay with kids getting apples from the tree Road sign pointing back to Paril Road construction along the way.. One of many starts of real ST in the Guba area ... the dirt today was almost like bubble gum Back to payment as we get closer to Guba
One of my favorite up hills to ride as it has several set-ups of different sizes Rice field Guba! Gina's Eatery ... Many riders arrive here for lunch here on most any Sunday Eddie's motorcycle shop (and gas station) located on the opposite end of Guba from Gina's Eatery
Yes, that is gas ... The locals buy it from the gas stations in the towns and sell it for ~5 pesos per liter profit all over the place anytime no true gas stations are in the area ... eliminates the need for larger tanks here
yep, in the providences, a single road can go from pavement, to dirt, to rocks, to cement, to ST, and back again ... About the only traffic you will ever encounter is locals walking, very slow moving trucks, or locals on 125 4t street bikes riding very slow so not to damage their bikes or cargo ... A.K.A -- forget any fast head-on crashes because U are the only one carrying any speed ... U crash and it is most likely UR fault ...
Thanks and as Jimmy Durante would say, "I got a million of 'em" .. ... What is really cool here is the acceptance of bike riders by all the people along the way ..young and old ... they really like seeing a rider come through their area and perform any move on UR bike ... people will cheer, standup and clap... point out trails, jumps ... help when you crash or fall over ... I've stopped in front of schools sometimes and the kids just run over and see what I am doing ... Its really over the top sometimes here ... Probably the 3 biggest areas of entertainment here are bike racing, basketball, and cock fighting ... Most of these small towns have a yearly fiesta ... they will actually build a MX track specifically for entertainment for the people during this time and yep, all the riders are treated very well
Yep, a cool ride and it has many deviations along the way so many different paths to the same barangays is possible... Its like a spider web of roads and trails in the mountains ...
It's relaxed 4 sure ... It seems island living is always relaxed ... It's 3rd world here also and that slows things down another couple notches ... Every day is a new adventure ...today I go to a small local MX track with some friends... Sunday we have another race (weather permitting) on another, new built track a few miles up the road ... I'll probably camp out over night at the track a day before so that I can get in more practice time ...
One of the most interesting reports! Wow, so neat to see riding in such a different country. I say more pictures!!
I have some street rides pics I'll post later ... It is so cool to walk out the front door, jump on a bike, MX model or not, and just start riding knowing that you are not gonna be hassled any and 99% of the country side is available for riding ... The Philippine Sea ( A.K.A. The great Pacific Ocean )
