I fought my Beta Everywhere and even after all my issue got fixed, the bike didn't work with me. Other then the power our 2014 FE250 felt much better. Now the 2t Betas are on par or better then most other brands just the 4t line seems outdated.

They ( Beta) were smart enough to jump on sponsoring the AMA dual sport series. KTM/Husky really beefed that one waiting a whole year to come out with DS bikes. Not like they didn't already have the platform.

Or they were dumb enough since Husqvarnas did sponsor this event in the past years and stopped after KTM's purchase. Is it worth the ost if you don't have a rig at events??

Yes also thinking about one of these for dual purpose unfortunately the S is not available in Australia does any one know all of the differences between the S and the more enduro race version?

You mean FORTUNATELY it's not available in OZ I suppose. They are the same except the S is limited power due to smog and environmental rules and regulations in some states in the US.
The 501 we get here is power full on, hence our US friends all want the EU - AU map.

I can tell you it's not dual purpose however, it's an off road enduro bike, stat!

Main differences are street legal lighting (turn signals, etc) plate holder, a thicker head gasket to reduce compression, EPA garbage and a locked ECU. Most of which I would remove after getting it home so you are lucky you don't have the S model imported. That is if the non S can be made street legal in Australia.

A few buddies had some challenges with theirs too, but my Beta 450RS was rock solid AFTER I got the suspension really dialed in by an expert who knew Betas suspensions really well. Also, I played a lot with the carb, making needle/bowl changes, and exhaust, got it super dialed in. Once I got this resolved, the handling and feel of the bike was a magic carpet ride for me, and i let others ride it - trading bikes on trail with other Betas, new Husky 450s, 511s, KTM 450s, among others. When I'd ride other peoples bikes, they would just feel strange. Blueprinting a bike is everything to me now days. Just makes it more pleasurable to ride when it fits and feels right. Starting all over again with the new Husky FE 501S now. Slow but sure, getting there one step at a time.

Yes, street legal. Comes with mirrors, lights and indicators and a loom for it in the box.

No probs riding it on the road for that distance as it will easily do legal and illegal speeds but not very comfy. Fuel economy is good too for the distance you mention no need for extra fuel.

Very nice. Great photos. Aren't these 501S bikes just the friggin' coolest thing since slides bread. Sure like mine and sold my KTM 690 to buy one. So much fun to head down the road, pull off on trails, and let it 'er rip even for a short one after a days work. Have fun!

I started this FE 501S modification thread over on TT if it helps, with photos to see: http://www.thumpertalk.com/topic/1119327-2015-fe-501s-modifications-thread/

Here is what I would start with, IMO, but I tend to ride mine on trail and for dual sporting too. Whatever works for you... Can't say enough about mod #1.

    #1. Seat Concepts Comfort Seat
    #2. Front/Rear sprockets (your choice, 13/50, 14/50, 13/48, 14/48)
#3. Remap ECU and IGN Curve switch, if needed.
    #4. Radiator guards for protection
#5. Re-spring rear and front to your weight

tires, when you wear them out...
    Doubletake mirrors
Skid plate if you ride rocky stuff...

The new seats must suck pretty bad. My 2014 fe501 seat, tall version, is surprisingly comfortable. I'm a fan of the SC seats but I'm very happy with this seat. I've done 275 miles off road days back to back no complaints. I've heard the 2015 seats are bad in comparison.

Yes, the 2015 factory FE 350/501S seat is revised with really nice materials and different foam but this time around I was not willing to wait a year for it to break in, and learned the same on my Beta 450. Actually, the new seat is not "bad", it's just the alternative is so much better.

The Seat Concepts Standard Comfort seat is so much (drastically) better seat support and way more comfortable than a '14 or '15 Husky, KTM, Beta seat. I will never to back to a factory seat after this. If you are on your pegs most of the time, probably does not matter but when you ride 70 miles back and forth just getting to offroad trails, the extra width (now 8" rear) makes a big difference. I never think about the seat on those 250+ mile day rides. The only thing I regret about the seat is I should have bought one for my former Beta sooner, waited too long and did it day-2 on the new Husky.

Shortly, you'll be able to buy the whole seat and pan new vs. sending yours in/back and dealing with shipping, and you get to keep your factory seat too...

A few photos right before I bolted it back on.

Could you please tell me which RAM mount part number you used to mount the double take mirrors? I just got my order from rockymountain and unfortunately the ram mounts are too big for the thread. I got the M10x1.25 male thread.....they won't screw in :(
