I do seem to ride a little smarter now adays but end up getting little things by others...

at a national enduro had a guy wipe me out as he flew by totally out of control...gave me a huge bruise, tore my pants leg off, and took my knee pad with him...

hit a guy coming backwards on the course, come to find out there was a hill around the corner he didnt make....was going for a 2nd try...hit head on no real damage except a dented pipe...

passing a guy he looped out and took my visor off as I went by...that was scary...

lucky no real moto leg injuries lately, fffing lower back is the bane for me lately,(need more core strength, again)

past, in the nineties was a torn up knee from 91 YZ490(surgery good result) still slips from no ACL, but works fine.
trashed hip from streetbike wheelie crash and follow on dirtbike slams(surgery good result)
severly dislocated elbow phys therapy, weights and massage manipulations got it back to 100%
all other leg stuff was all from soccer injuries, brutally torn muscles, ankle sprains (surgery), ankle bone spurs (surgery).
this is like Jaws when Quint talks about all the scars!!

Dislocated shoulder in 1974, concussion in 1976 .....

Sat around and got fat for 20 years.

Clogged arteries in 2007 resulted in 4 stents after two angioplasty session.

Made a point to ride a full 90 min GP at Eddieville 1 month later.

NOT riding also has its health risks.

That is an excellent point!!! Finding something to do that keeps us in shape, but doesn't cause major body damage has proven to be a struggle for me...

Nope! Broke my left leg[knee] several years ago. I had a real good set of knee pads but it didn't protect the side area when I slid into a tree going downhill. Still no ACL but no problems riding. I just make sure I wear my knee braces. Other than a broken shoulder in 95 & riding since 72 I believe I have been very fortunate. I don't count broken toes or fingers, sprained ankles or neck contusions from sticker vines that won't let go:eek: Another one last Sunday! Boy do they hurt:D

There is a product out there featured in Dirt Rider in Febuary you may be interested in. It's a footpeg that extends back to help those kinda injuries. It's made by Crain at www.anklesavers.com. I have no idea if it works but it got a good review.

Which one is more expensive? I'm sure since this is a family forum, you are talking about getting your cardio from chasing her around for an hour, right? :D

2009: Not paying attention to the trail, while riding trail, ended in a stupid crash. Lucky to only have heavy bruising on my right side from shoulder pads down to top of my boot.

2007: Right knee surgery that I've never come 100% back from. Not sure I can blame biking on that one.......more old age, and allowing myself to get fat and out of shape.

2006: Ripped my right bicep loose at the elbow while lifting my dirt bike over an off angle log I failed to clear.

Prior to that though, I can go 25 years, clear back to 1981 when a bad crash smashed my foot bad enough to bend the steel shank of my boot. X-rays at emergency room showed no broken bones (& never have...so far), but extreme bruising covering whole foot up to knee put me on crutches for 3-4wks and couldn't walk far or run at all for 6mths.........oh, that was right side also.

Do recall a early 90's scare during a 60-65mph run down a sandwash. Cut a corner a bit tight and clipped large rock with my foot...........foot instantly had a sharp pain, w/tingling and felt cold/wet. Quick glance down showed open boot and red sock, so just kept the throttle pinned the last couple miles to the truck.
Once there found that the hit had caught boot seam between plastic/leather and ripped it open, and the "red" was the red toe of my socks. The cold/wet feeling was just cool air flowing in over my damp/sweating foot. (what to guess which foot/side?)

Only been riding seriously for 1 year.

Worst so far was wheelie'ing at the top of a hill I always ride. Right when I put the front tire down I ran into a mound of dirt. OTB I go, Bike lands on top of me (swingarm/tire on the head). Turns out it was the backside of a jump someone recently built. Pushed the bike off of me and got up, I then felt a familiar pain in my shoulder.

Rode back to the truck and loaded up (this happened about 1min after I unloaded). Drove to the hospital and got xrays. Was almost certain I broke my collar bone again. Luckily I just tore the muscles in my shoulder.

I stay off the mx tracks and mostly ride harescramble type trails. Challenging and fun, yet not immediately threatening to my well being.

Heres to another year of hopefully minor injuries  !

    Pretty lucky i guess

    Geeze,
You guys are scaring me. Sounds like the girls have to be toughest of all. Me, i have been knocked out and bruised ribs but so far, no snapage. Bruised and torn ribs really hurt though, and for a long time.
They would pop if i breathed deep months after.
