My Klim is posted at 3lbs, 9oz. All helmets come with a nice carry bag, but mine also came with a winter skull cap since its so vented and a spare visor...guess they knew my style, or lack if it!

    Edit:
I had posted earlier in 'Racing' that I really liked this helmet, and it was the best helmet for me based being able to get my glasses on and off. Some helmets were absolutely impossible to do this with... No matter how nice they fit/felt.

Thanks for all the replies, was not aware of airoh or suomy, both look very nice. Looks like there are not a lot of US suppliers. Any recommendations?

Need to see if I can find a place locally to try on, but it may be tough.

3lbs, 9oz is almost 50% too heavy- and that's what my HJC SPX weighs. Dirtdame is right, the Italians are leading the way in light helmets (The Airoh that I want is just a smidge over 1Kg- thats 2.2lbs).

I really believe that the Snell Memorial Foundation has led us over the cliff, weight-wise. As I said last year in another post, all of my '90s era Snell helmets were under 3lbs; all of the new millennium were over. I think that off-road helmets need a different standard from road racing and NASCAR.

Btw, I've been wearing neck protection for 10 years now (an EVS cervical collar; fuk Letts). In fact, I can't ride w/o one on now, feels weird. Speaking of weird, on almost every ride at one point, I can't tell if I'm wearing the collar and so hafta scrunch my shoulders or touch it with my hand to make sure it's still there. And it is, of course.

I'd recommend everybody trying one out, at least once. You get used to it remarkably fast.

Helmet recommendation: Airoh Terminator ...never had one though; been eyeballing 'em for almost 2 years. Soon, I think.

Here are some vendors on eBay- note that they're under $300 for the most part ('cept the UK vendor, who also charges for shipping)

    Airoh helmet Netherlands
    Airoh helmet Italy
    Airoh helmet UK

Motorcycle Superstore has carried the Suomy Jump helmets for several years. They have always been great about returns...

Gotta check out the Italian helmets for next time. Been riding with an Arai xd4. I like the angle of the bill vs most dirt bike helmets. It helps with the sun in the eyes.

Motorcycle Superstore is great with returns they carry Soumy and UFO....

I only use my visor to block roost and hang my gopro.... I'd take it off if it didn't look so stupid.... bullet head is not for me....

Snell is a joke....ECE is good

My buddies get their Airoh on Ebay....

Sorry but Arai and Shoei are like boat anchors after wearing Italian lids... I really liked AGV helmet too....

Can stand neck braces and most of the guys here are going away from them...

Brother just got a Ktm 300 last week and needs a dirt lid. Will give him the old Fox this weekend when we ride together.
Ventilation almost non existent on the Fox. Looking forward to something light that will breathe.

I've got the AGV AX8 Evo, lightest fiberglass helmet I've had, small round shell, plush, decent ventilation, made in China! Glad I got it for 1/2 price  I sent them an email complaining and reply was EU gets EU made, the Americas get China. It's still a nice helmet of course.
I'm holding out for some advanced protection at a fair price, guess I may have to wait awhile. I need a summer helmet in white and think I'll try the new Answer MIPS helmet.

I got the jump "black magic" basic black and white.
No color choices that I found to match my bike in the Soumy line. Airoh had a couple of blue/yellow combos in the aviator 2.2 which would have been my first choice.

But 2 days vs 30 days and $200 cheaper, with a US distributor won the decision.

hell, get a Rockstar factory team graphics kit... black, white, yellow. you'll look like Anderson/Osborne/Davalos/Pourcel (the 2" husky logo is blue, but otherwise it's pretty much blue-free). Add a Rockstar jersey... you're blue-less.

I have been using the Suomy for the last year, plenty of ventilation which helps with the hot conditions here, and very light which helps with my "sandy" neck. (thanks to 80's helmets made from led!)
Some people are reluctant to buy one as the assume light = less protection. It has a good rating in tests and the ample ventilation and light weight did it for me.
The blue moltov matches the husky colours enough for me not to worry about esthetics.
    Highly recommended!

Strange nobody mentioned the Shoei VFX-R. I love mine and it feels very light despite the reported numbers. Great ventilation, fit and features. YMMV

Based on some reviews I read, the ventilation was a huge factor in my decision as well. I am a hot head! Main reason to get another helmet in the first place. Will give the V1 Fox to my brother. Will even wash the liners before hand, what a brother I am :)

The other brother already has a couple of dirt helmets, this one is riding around in his Arai sport bike helmet :busted:

The Shoei is a brick when you put it up next to my UFO.... I have 2 of them that probably will never get used again along with 2 Arai's... Thinking about a Airoh open face for trail riding....
