I read through most of the reviews I could find. Some people were not happy with the Desert HT front tire, but all most everyone liked the IT up front. I will mix it up and try the IT up front. The endure IT's are designed for 50%hard/50%soft, and 50%dry/50%wet. The dealer is Get Dirty Dirt Bikes, he is a Beta dealer. If the front wears too fast I can always get a replacement because he stocks them. He will have to order the Desert Ht.
I bought my tires from Get Dirty Dirt Bikes. I talked to Dave Turner and went over a lot of different tire combos. I decided to go with a set of Pirelli MT-21.
I went to read the reviews on the IT, they are very good. I will order it the first of the month. Can't wait to get good shoes on my Red Headed Mistress..she is going to look like she is wearing combat boots....Look at my avatar on the left and just imagine the boots with those shorts....grrrrrrr.
The only thing that steered me away from the Motoz is the M speed rating. I wish we could get their FIM tires. I am going to do the Utah BDR ride in September and will be riding on the 15 with a speed limit of 80 mph which means to keep from getting run over we will be doing 80-90 mph. I didn't feel comfortable pushing past their speed rating. I don't want a get off on the freeway at those speeds. Maybe it's just my old age kicking in.
Combat boots hunh? I was thinking big heels. Usually like the ones found in places where they have a pole floor to ceiling.
I have the Full Bore M-41s front & rear on my KLR:http://www.fullboretires.com/adventuretouring.html They are a very nice tire on road. No worries dragging the pegs. No worries 2up or otherwise loaded at speed. Great on packed-dirt/gravel roads. Hard to say how they'll do on single track because the bike isn't a single track bike and I don't go there with it. They seem to be wearing very well. No cupping. High milage. Best pic I have here at work:
If I was preparing for another long trip and didn't want to mess with tires, this is exactly the setup I'd go with. On a lighter bike, I put 12K miles on a k60 and abused the thing. Amazing tire. First two pics were taken in the Guatemalan highlands, on our way south. Last one was on baja, on way back. In the middle of baja, it felt good to know I had a big, tough, badass piece of rubber between me and all those rocks.
Wolfman makes those, but frankly, you could modify any dog pack with longer straps and it would stay on.
I now I am getting old when two tires tried to kick my butt. Has anyone tried one of the baja tire tools. I realized my tire irons are almost antiques!

I picked these up today on clearance, $255 for the pair. Sava MC23 Rockrider front & Dunlop D908 Rally Raid rear. I'm keen to give the combo a go. The Sava is a bit of an unknown, has anyone ever run one ?

Report on the M21's. The tires work great off road and on the road. I did a ride to Tecate Mexico last weekend. The mileage was a little over 410 miles for the round trip. I was with a group of spirited road bikes. Needless to say we took twisty back road for the whole trip. These tires hook up really good in the twisty's. I have about 750 miles on the tires. But I will be lucky to get maybe 1200 miles out of the rear tire. The front looks brand new. These tires are very sure footed on the tarmac at speed. The speeds ranged from 55 to 85 with spurts above 95. So far I am very pleased with the tires. I might try a 908rr in the rear but I might stay with the mt21. I was really surprised how well they performed on the roadways at speed.
I should be getting the same set the beginning of August. These are very similar to the Sahara 3's we have on our stock terra's just different sizes. Curious to see if there is a difference and what they wear like. Do the strada's have a 3.5" rim? I thought the 140 is almost too wide for the rim. Those are a 140/70-17 and the terras stock are 140/80-18 so might be close in size. Although looks like you are getting away with a bigger front tire. In the sand that would be huge.
I have a strada. The front 110/80/19 matches stock. The rear stock is 140/80/17. The strada rear rim is 3.5". I've seen a few people using the 150 rear k60 and since I couldn't get the 140 e07, I decided to just go with the 150. 150s seem far more plentiful, so if it works out I'll probably stick with that size. Got them mounted and balanced, hopefully be riding on them tomorrow.
