My wife and I adopted a couple of kittens from the local pound that keep growing and growing until they got over twenty pounds. The vet thinks they are a cross between Norwegian Forest cats and Maine Coon cats. The one on the left is named Rocky and he weighs twenty-six pounds, and the one on the right is his little brother Harley, and he weighs a little over twenty-one pounds. They only eat dry food and each gets a half a cup twice a day, so they are not over fed and fat. Harley likes to play fetch and they both are a lot more dog like and don't like to sit on your lap.
Ha, ya got that right. Peeweecat weighs about 6 or 7 pounds and eats like a horse. My old cat was a fussy light eater and weighed 14 pounds.
My next door neighbor's cat passed away and she gave us about three cases of different wet food that her fussy cat wouldn't eat. Just for fun we tried to give some to our cats to see if they would like it, they sniffed it and then tried to bury it. Eating only dry food has kept their teeth white and their gums healthy.
My boys wanted a dog so we went to the Birmingham humanine society for a look....My wife found a 4 month old lab/border collie mix. Abbey is what we named her & we've had her since November of 2009. I have not had a dog in almost 20 year & this was a great experience. She's my best girl & she is great with the kids, stays in the house with us (except at night where she sleeps in her crate in the basement) & she is low keyed (plays when you want to play or is just as happy to lay down on the rug & chill) & smart as a whip. So, for a buck-fifty, we saved a dog, she's fixed, microchipped & the $150 was tax deductable (I know, I'm cheap). The Birmingham Humanine Society opened it's new facility about 5 years ago I think & I was impressed on how nice it was, as the last time I was there it was at the old place & I remember how drab & depressing it was. Oh well, here are some pics Oh & here is one of the boys on the 4 wheeler in the woods behind the house, after the snow a couple of weeks ago. Jackson 6 & Jeremy 3. Thanks for the thread bump so I could share.....
