Ouch.....yea next bike will be slightly used. Seen a 14 or 15 beta 300 with no time on it sell for $6800 I think. Had some extras as well. This bike was my 50th birthday present to myself. At least with the tc I got it for 7k 15 model. Then with discounts blinged it out for $2500 or so and already had the dampner. Should a bought two Italian fire sale huskys......in hindsight...my wife wasn't to happy but said I work hard and agreed life is short...

Man I'm sorry, I thought you were state side. Puts thing in perspective a bit. You do have awesome trails so the difference in price still seems worth it...

higher wages over here but cost of living is also high. Most Aussies buy parts from the states but the AUD is taking a hammering lately and making local prices seem more attractive again which isn't a good thing

The shitty part is the shipping down there. I never realized how bad it was until reading about it here on CH. $70 to ship a little$20 part? Yikes!

Somewhat true but if you ride a lot there are diminishing returns. A new bike has all new parts. A used bike has a lot of used parts that need replaced. My buddy right now is finding out it might be smarter to sell and buy a new bike than replace the piston, valves, bearings, drive components, brakes, tires etc on his KTM 350 and you still have all the other parts wearing out. add to that your time, of which a ton of it is used replacing all those parts. Also new bikes are so stinking tight and fun. I do a little of both, buy new when I can and buy used when it makes sense. I love my old 02 CR250 husky but I do find things need addressed all the time. Life is short, I get the shinny new one when I can.

Very true. Nothing like a new bike..tight, clean, shinny..wow. But $11k every year is now unrealistic for me, maybe every 5 years now.

I hear ya man. My hope is to keep my 501 for 3 years and see how I feel. Dropping my suspension off at MX-Tech Monday. I spoke with Jeremy there and he has the full makeover for the 4CS forks so we'll see... Kreft and a couple others use the parts he designed so I will go to the well directly.

I've never had a custom suspension set up on any of my bikes I sure would like to try it. I kinda just fit my riding style to the bike I'm riding at that time. My ktm husky dealer is starting to blow out some 14 ktm's now $8500 plus fees for 300 2t and a 500 for 4t xcw I think for $9200 plus fees. No deals on huskys yet, 501 new husky is $10,300 plus fees so a little over $11k ouch.

My local KTM dealer has a 2014 350exc for 7700 left over. May be worth it to look around. Add $350 shipping and you're still coming out ahead.

Yeah looking for a bike for my brother, I'm done for a while shot my wad on a 14 YZ 450. He wants the new husky 501 street legal. Throw a paddle tire on it ride dunes and street legal. At that price he's selling his snowmobile, crf 450, and a quad or 2. He will probably buy it in oregon somewhere due to no sales tax

If a guy plans on keeping the bike I think a carryover is the way to go. Keep in mind it is already a year old so if your not saving much it may be a coin toss on which way to go. We need to see more options out there similer to the Kdx platform that 92 I bought new was 2999 while everything else was a third mor . And still competitive. I myself may not know what to look for in a used four stroke except condition hours on it and frequency of maintanence ...

I bought my son a brand new never started 2011 YZ450 at the end of 2013 for $5,000.00 The dealer I bought it from sells very few dirt bikes compared to side by sides and 4 wheelers, I showed interest in it and about 3 months earlier and when I stopped in one day they were determined to get it off the showroom floor.

That's the way to do it as long as they have old inventory...
