They need bike specific software. I seem to recall reading that the connector wasn't a match either, but I could be imagining that. The biggest issue is that the Husky has a completely different ECU by a complete different manufacturer, so there's a fair amount of reverse engineering that needs to happen. I've had the GS-911, used it on my boxers, and it's great. I'm not sure we have the collective volume to convince them to do a TR version of the host software.
Maybe we don't (North America) But with "all" the TR's & Nuda's world wide...something will get done. I'm not worried...hell KTM still might cough up a new ECU for all of us yet...ya never know.
I believe this option has been discussed somewhere else, and the company needs a bike to fiddle with to make sure their tool works with it. Note also that although the TR650 engine is very similar to the BMW 650s, there are differences, including, I believe, the ECU. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. EDIT: krussel beat me before I refreshed the thread.
5100 Scotts Valley Dr Scotts Valley, CA 95066 Would be a nice day trip for either: Coffee seeking a respite from the pressure at Cafe Husky World Headquarters up Napa-ish way.... or Woodschick from her secret hideaway in Oakland....and no doubt a few others in the SF Bay area.
Beemershop, a great place by the way, is just the us distributor. http://www.hexcode.co.za/ The manufacturer is in South Africa. I'm not sure where they need the bike. They are usually at the BMW rally, which is this weekend in Salem, OR. If anyone is going, please stop by and inquire. I haven't decided if I'm going or not. Admission is not bad, but I usually end up finding a few hundred $ of stuff I must have and miss out on quality riding time.
I nominate Kelly to go :-) I went last time it was in Redmond Oregon...took my TE610 to make sure I didnt quite fit in
I went for the whole thing in Redmond. New toolkit, new Arai helmet, new windshield, new bag liners. An expensive weekend. Good riding, clinics, entertainment, and beer though. Based on all the TR love I've been getting in random street encounters, I'd be terrified to ride it in for fear of creating some sort of mob scene.
When you overide it it reads the vin#and it pops up in the picture so you know it has it,then proceed as normal. It works ,I even reset a 2001 F650Gs the same way and it ran and idled perfect when done.
Spent some time yesterday visiting with the owner at the dealer where I bought my Terra. Big D Motorsports in Woodland Park, CO has no intention of getting rid of their MOSS tool. This guy is great. He actually told me he felt it would be immoral and unethical to sell someone a bike and not support it. Now I just hope BMW or KTM continue to support those dealers that choose to keep the MOSS.
Maybe we all should adopt this attitude and the world will fix itself. Is this not the head in the sand thing? Let somebody else worry about it, I'm along for the free ride. As long as I got mine screw you all. phtttt
magOO, the Tucson sun most be getting to you. Lifes to short for this sort of whinning. This is a brand new bike and there is going to be hickups. Just sell your bike and buy a drz or something thats been out for a while and you wont have any problems. I did get mine and I love it!
Your TR650 must be from a bad batch, because everyone else who bought one can't stop raving about it.
Mag00 did not say his bike was not running correctly in the post you quoted (though he may have somewhere else). He was simply trying to comment on other peoples lack of concern with regards to the MOSS.
Well ok, we now have a clear understanding of the situation. And I appreciate everyone getting along and not getting terribly upset with each other. Personally I think the MOSS, or replacement for the MOSS, or some clue as to what the future holds for the MOSS - is important.
Thursday, I went to the Husky/KTM dealer in Fort Mill SC. The service department told me that they sent their computer back because it cost $6,000.00. I told them they might want to let the sales department know because they have a Strata sitting in the showroom.
Did you ask them how they felt about being able to keep your bike maintained without it? I wonder if the dealers that do choose to return the Moss computer are confident they can maintain the bike without it. Seems like short of a computer failure, the Moss is mostly a fault identifier anyway. I am not up on all that the MOSS does but that has been my impression. Let the grilling of my ineptitude begin by all that know better than I.
I think some people are too worried about the moss tool. I have over 2000miles on my bike, it's never been hooked up and it's fine.
