I feel your pain. My 2009 Honda CRF 250R wouldn't start hot or cold from day-one without SUPER-human effort. That lasted several months despite trips to the dealer and several attempts at jetting and fiddling with valves to no avail. Parts were available EVERYWHERE! Dealers were tripping over each other to sell me something that would "solve" my probem. I couldn't ride 10 miles away from my home without passing a Honda dealer... yet the problem remained, despite my efforts to resolve through the plentiful dealers and their plethora of readily-available parts... so I SOLD the POS and bought another Husky! Go to ThumperTalk, Honda CRF 250, and do a search on "my new Honda won't start"... or... "hard to start"... or "won't start hot or cold"... or...:lol::lol:

A couple of years ago, my husband ordered about $400 worth of bling for for his KTM 525 EXC from the hard parts catalog. Parts trickled in over a couple of months in such an order that nothing could be mounted. The most important stuff was on backorder. About a week after he ordered his parts, I ordered a few OEM bits for my Husky SMR. I ordered them from a dealer in Texas (because we have no Husky dealers in OK). The parts were here in 2 weeks and that included transit time to their dealership and then to me! Two months later, my husband gave up on his KTM parts and canceled the order.

Recently, though, I ordered a chain glide and chain guard for the SMR and they got stuck in customs. It took about 2 months to get the parts. In the meantime, I made due by removing the damaged chain guard and using a crappy Acerbis chain glide.

To me, it seems like the parts situation got worse after the acquisition by BMW. However, we just bought a Husky TXC, so I guess we're not worried. lol. There are still several dealers in the US that keep well stocked and there is plenty of aftermarket support if you know where to look. Heck, I ordered that Acerbis chain glide from Cycle Gear locally.

I guess my attitude is, if you're going to buy an exotic bike (and Husky is comparatively exotic), then you have to be prepared for a little extra work.

I used to sell Beta trials bikes back in the late 80s. I thought of them as somewhat exotic, but I never had trouble ordering or stocking parts for them or aftermarket accessories, so when I bought my TE I thought parts would be easy enough to get a hold of from my local dealer. Husqvarnas are a lot more common than Betas. And at the time that I bought the machine, all the owners I chatted with said that there was no problem getting parts. It was partly what made me decide to buy the bike.

I'm sure things are "almost" the same as it was when I was a Husky dealer.....The distributor has "basic needs" list for new dealers on parts to be immediately stocked with your current level of "what quanity/models I want on my floor. As of 2 years ago when I was trying to find an investment/working partner to reopen a shop in Florida, the dealer app. called for a min. of $2500.00 parts investment ! that is not alot of parts!!! I still have parts left from my original dealership and my current inventory is over $16,000.00 dealer cost (AND I was a MOM and Pop store with 2-3 employees).
In a nutshell, maybe BMW doesn't have parts for new/old dealers or maybe the dealer(s) ordered just the "basic requested inventory" without giving thought of updating the basic package required ,maybe the dealer(s) sold parts and never replenished...who knows. But as many have stated ,you owe it to yourself to "check around".Myself, when I needed a part for my customer and it was"out of stock" factory part ,I searched everywhere to satisfy my customer(I started my Husky dealership in 1996:shocked: ,so I know first hand about parts unavailability.
Don't give up your love for Husky, just try and be resourcefull at what is available at your finger tips......it WILL be worth it!
    Have a good day,

I've heard very good reports about SW Motorad, I am sure they are a good dealer...... they are just currently struggling with the current @ss reaming for Canadian distributership.

If any of you CDN riders need anything and are struggling with your local dealer, I suggest calling Scott at Ross Rocher Sales in Ontario. He knows his stuff and will do his best to serve you.

my dealer has been swaqping parts with other dealers and vice versa.......iam guessing husky cant get the parts.
i found a wiesco piston but apparently you need a husky only wristpin and gasket.
Before you guys flame me to much i agree every bike company has quirks,i was just thinking ktm because there on every corner.
I sent a email to Husqvarna corprate explaining the situation and that they need to support/promote off road racers in canada. In the pnwma crosscountry race circuit the is two other husky riders. 70% pumpkins.and then the rest.I want to compete not wait for parts.I
asked corprate to give me an explanation.i want to hear it from the horses mouth why no support.
My dealer told me he cant even get new bikes in nor does he want to if he cant get parts.........
Bye the way ive waited 4 days since the email to husky........still no response:rolleyes:

ok good points made...............i have edited my post. I dont want to be too hasty on my decision to bad mouth the dealer...We will see the outcome next week .And to be honest my dealer has been very polite and willing to rectifiy the problem. There is more to the story then i have posted that has led me to post my opinion and unless i state all the facts my opinion may seam unjust. sorry.

More so iam a mostly frustrated because i rarley pay to have my work done for me and the odd chance i do i get burned.............but there is NO reason a dealer for a certain brand shouldnt have a minimal selection of parts for a 1 year old bike.period why is it that there is thousands in merchandise but no rear fender or rad shrouds?
knowing that i can get parts quicker and cheaper with a phone call then the dealer can burns me.

And keeping this thread going towards a positive ending would be nice........ill try not to be so debby downer:p

    ill post the outcome soon

I offered to send River City a complete top end kit on Friday for a WR250, probably for you. Very rarely do people want to ante up for the OE piston. I havent had any issues with the Wiseco. (not trying to spam, just trying to get this guy going)

Your dealer has been swapping parts with other dealers in Canada to keep customers happy and you say he sucks? He does not want to sell bikes if he cannot get parts to keep customers happy - and because of that he is full of it?

He sounds like a hard working intelligent dealer to me - and does not suck, and is not full of it.

You put in the  smilie because Husqvarna NA has not responded to your email in 4 days? Try sending an email to Yamaha, Honda, or even KTM corporate NA - let me know if they reply, and how long it takes - with something besides an auto response or canned answer.

You should have read the rules when you signed up. The only one that really counts is in a sticky at the top of the main forum:
Gratuitous 'sucks' and general negative posts with poor punctuation is not a great way to get help from this community - which is a cut above other online forums, and it is my hope that it will remain that way.

Luckily it sounds like River City cycle and Scotty are working extremely hard on the situation and quite frankly you do not sound very grateful.

I deal with Rivercity Cycle with dirtbikes, Rm 250, wr250, quad, ltf_160, streettbikes, GSF 1250, SV650, my kids both deal there and we do this because they are an awsome dealership, always freindly and helpful. Last year Ryan, the parts guy said they may have trouble getting Husky parts in the future so I bought a bunch of his parts.

As of today, the only "Official" Husky dealers in Canada are myself in Ontario and SW Motarrad in Kelowna. Echo Cycle did sign a dealer contract this year but has yet to order an 09s and is not ordering any parts from what I have been told (purely rumour). I have sent a lot of stuff to Alberta lately.

I have about $25K of Husky parts in stock right now and order parts at least once a week, sometimes more depending on quantity. If you are in a major pinch and dont mind covering some extra shipping, I will order that day regardless to help you out.

As I said, expect an announcement regarding a CDN Dist within a few weeks. I know for a fact that they are negotiating with 3 different companies right now to look after the logistics for Husq Canada and hope to have a deal in place by mid June.

i guess i have been really lucky, or these bikes are darn close to bullet proof. i have an 06 te450 that i have never needed any parts for, other than upgrades, and my dealer has always been able to ship them the next day or so.(halls cycles, springfield il.u.s.a.).also i have a friend that races 450s on the flat track circut, and he also has not had issues getting parts. i would suggest that anyone that is having trouble getting parts just try another dealer, like halls, they do ship anywhere.
