Hmmm, I wonder too! It was this very thread! Mike I'm cross posting on ADV. Same stuff but of course some different commentary. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=536435
This is me doing my very best Johnny Cash Impression:lol This road was straight, and went on forevah! norcalslowpoke Yay! Finally!! A turn. Septic Skeptic was haulin Shortly after that we came across two locals trying to unstuck a ancient ford from beach sand. I "volunteered" to be the the director of the film. I shot a video thinking it would be cool to show the guys setting this guy free. It was a LONG video. Every time the guy would put it in gear, the engine would die. So basically the guys pushed this truck, in sand, about 20 feet, one foot at a time. Mike turned prophet and said "the battery (pant) has (pant) to (pant) die (gasp) soon" and like on cue the engine stopped turning so we left the guy with his bud to figure it out. photo by yossarian We stopped in a small fishing village, and all of the local kids came out to check us out. You could tell gringo's don't get down this way too often. Or maybe they do and usually need gas photo by yossarian Anyway from this point all the way south to Todos Santos, the Kids were all excited to see us. It was really neat how parents/siblings would get little kids' attention point us out and then the kids would light up & smile and the parents would smile and wave at us. It's hard to explain, but VERY cool. photo by Yossarian We did sort of look like a synchronized moto team of some sort I guess photo by Yossarian Next we came to a not dry lake. This was easy and FUN!! but also VERY hairy. I had a couple moments where the bike would just suddenly turn sideways on me. SepticSkeptic 'Course, I probably shoulda been riding with both hands. NorcalSlowpoke, hauling BentAero's Kolpin tank. I didn't realize it at the time, but this moisture was a sign of things to come!
I don't know if xymotic had one, but I didn't. I feel that having one would have made it a fair amount less work for me.
awesome!! great report. keep it coming. as you may have already found out it is best to stay on the tracks heading to San Jaunico. it can be soft and deep!!!
Unless you've set your computer up as a server, your link seems to be local and won't work... Have to use a Photo server like smug mug or ??? Or if you have a Mobil Me account you can link from there.
Septic, Yossarian and I all did, I think we all had 08 610's. There were a couple moment's but if you carry a litre or 2 so it's all good. Pretty sure the 310 had the smallest range, 50 mi or so.
The road turned, and instantly we had different terrain again. Septic Skeptic and NorCalSlowpoke Photo By Yossarian Gained a little Altitude and a view. Yossarian We descended into a small valley and then we were treated with a decent water crossing. BentAero Charged Across while Mike supervises 20 Minutes later we went through a neat little village and then had to cross again. This time Norcalslowpoke (mike Kay in back) got a little kodak kourage and hammed it up a bit He got a little saturated Yossarian blasted through as well. BentAero was so quick I didn't even get the splash, but then his front lurched on a rock and he had a little pucker moment. Then he Wheelied up the hill but my poor little camera kain't shoot that quick!!! SepticSkeptic The Spectators were not amused Right after the village we came upon a semi-permanent Army checkpoint.
Hey Septic, I'm sorry man I found this too late. This link may Kill you dead. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HUSQ...rcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item19b923dbb3
Pulling into San Juancino the first impression leaves a little to be desired. Photo By Yossarian We got a little Gasolina at the local market. I was wrong earlier when I said BentAero roosted Septic, it happened here and I just missed the pic. Here's septic straigtening out after BentAero fed him a little sand. FUNNY SH*T Wrong, but funny! We stopped at a small surfer hangout, for lunch SepticSkeptic was hatin life Photo by Yossarian The place had everything! The owner was a bit grumpy though Seriously they had everything, cold beer, good food, Satellite TV on the plasma tv, Broadband internet, They had a brand new Mac Laptop to use for email, the owner was a photog with a 5d camera, and a hot waitress. They must sell a LOT of burritos Did I mention good food? It was weird, it seemed like 'something else' paid for the toys, but I suppose that gringo surfers paid for all of this, if it was a front they certainly took the fake business seriously and they were good at it. The pictures do not do this poor girl justice, she was smoking hot! This is one of my favorite pics of the whole trip, Mike is really trying hard to 'not stare'
Surprisingly, the little engine that could had great range. One tank (1.9 gal) it ran out at 71 miles, another at 75 miles (39+ mpg). If I had known it would get such good fuel economy, I wouldn't have brought that friggin' Kolpin can. Xymotic, your photos in post #514 are from Scorpion Bay. Does the town go by two different names? GC
This is one of my favorite shots I took. It's at an old ruins of a mining operation that Mike took me to just south of the Bahia de Los Angeles. (Sorry guys, the rest of you missed it -it was off the course just a little way) Old buildings, cactus, mountains, and a bike. Mikes 610: Go ahead, break down, get hurt, or run out of gas. We don't mind which... Self explanitory: When we reached Cabo, Mike's brother invited us out onto his boat:
I think the Bay is scorpion bay but the town is San Juancino. I'm just going by what google says. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=26%C2%B015%2722.200%22+N,+112%C2%B028%2746.200%22+W+&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=38.281301,78.662109&ie=UTF8&ll=26.248159,-112.467041&spn=0.169665,0.307274&z=12
