• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna/Husaberg one brand again?

Maybe they will even keep the italian designers

That would be key to ensure the bikes remain different style and probably part reason why people remain in Sweden for Husaberg.

Also, I see all three brands remaining alive and separate. I mean, Husaberg wouldn't be losing money nor would it cannibalise KTM or Husky. 3 brands in 3 different countries sharing common parts fits the VW Group business SP references.

When SP says "back to its roots" it could be taken two ways. Husky goes back to Sweden OR Husky once again becomes a strong player in MX. I think the latter.

When SP says "two pronged" attack against the japs. Maybe he means KTM and Husky against the japs in MX.

Husaberg is an alternative bike for the European enduro riders that don't want to ride orange. So he picks up 7000 sales instead of losing to beta gasgas etc etc...

I forget what the actual market "theory" is, but it is based around the coca-cola pepsi companies. Basically it describes how a single market, that may have many players at first, is eventually dominated by two brands. Android / iPhone, coke / pepsi, coors / bud etc. at the end of the "fight" rarely are markets more than 80/20 split between two brands. I think he want's to own both of those brands, or at least have a few in the fight for a while.

I think this is a thing... Yea.. yea.

Is this partly new and old news ?

How can they have parts supply if they have closed the factory - layed off the factory workers - unless its only externally sourced parts?

Below is the announcement via Trailzone:

HUSQVARNA & HUSABERG TO BE RE-UNITED!
Ever since KTM boss Stefan Pierer recently used his company Pierer Industries AG to purchase the Husqvarna brand from BMW, the question on everyone's lips has been, what will happen with Husqvarna? Well, here are some of the first official clues as to what will happen in the future for the 100-plus-year-old Husqvarna brand, via a press statement issued this evening by Husqvarna - check it out:

The year 2013 will be remembered in motorcycling history as the year that Husqvarna was reborn.

HUSQVARNA STARTS A NEW ERA OF GREAT SUCCESS
Following the acquisition of Husqvarna by Pierer Industries AG and after careful analysis and evaluation of all aspects, it was decided to re-unite what came out of shared roots 25 years ago. In other words, Husqvarna will enter a positive new era by combining its own rich heritage with Husaberg?s state-of-the-art technology.

My take
say hello to the new Husqvarnas- Husabergs with another different color plastic and minor differences from KTMs. As for my 11 and 13 X-lite based machines, all the parts supply will be doled out from the Italian plant where they were constructed. I dont think the "X-Lite", 449/511 are going to be built anymore and the whole 2 stroke line will be all KTM 2 strokes with different name plates (like Hbg is now).
My next bike will be #1 a TM or #2 a Beta, mark my word.
PS I rode Katos when most left coast people never heard of any other brands than Japanese big 4 bikes (300 and 250 2Ts). As for Huskys- 86 510TX, 99 TE610(ds), 04 TC450, 06 TE450(ds), 08 TXC450, 11 TE310(ds), 13 TXC310....
only the 86 was a Swede the rest were all Varese Italia machines. I'll be moving to the right coast at Pesaro or into the Tuscan hills next time around.

Hey Robert do not jump ship YET give it a little time Say what you want about KTM at least they are into Racing and development of the brand.Just think some of the original builders of the original Husky will have a chance to work on there beloved Husky again Remember they loved Husky so much that after the sale to cagiva they made there own company and tried to build Racing bikes with limited funds How lets hope the fire still burns and the money comes in Just think what they could build . Plus no Italian union to answer to I for one am going to wait and see
The current Beta 2 stroke and 4 stroke are nothing special The TM is to small a company
If I were a sweed and my Husky was to come home to the mother land and I got a chance to prove to the motorcycle world what we could build Don't you think they will want to do something special
looking back I never saw BMW really do much to better the brand
Today on my way home from work I saw something that made me laugh and say yep a BMW owner
I guy in his mid 30 on his cell phone on the side of the road in a BMW with a flat tire Calling for help bet he did not even know where the spare was or how to change it.I bet if he was a Husky owner driving a truck he would fix it himself

Why change a tire when you have road service? Screw it, let the tow truck guy do it. He gets paid and I don't get dirty. Sure, if you're in a hurry you can change it yourself, but why pay for road service and not use it?

BMW did plenty for Husky. MARKET IT, for one. You've heard a lot more about Husky in the last couple years than in many years before.

If SP thinks he can keep doing the same Husaberg thing but sell a lot more simply by slapping a different name on it, he's a total fool.

We won't know shit in October. The first model year of the new brand is a throw away. It's what ever they could slap together quickly. It will say nothing about what the real plans are. 2015 will tell more, 2016 should really let us know what the deal is.

I agree. This isn't a picture that will come into focus fast so no point in running around with our hair on fire. Heck my 2012 will serve me fine and parts will be pleantifull for a few years, by then we'll be seeing clearly. I'm with you RT if we have rebranded KTM's in 2016, those TM's will look even tricker than they do now!
