Thanks guys! I hope that it helps someone out. I was hesitant about trying the project with a new $200 pipe but if I had to build another one I would put out the money if I HAD to. Im stoked because being that I was the one that put it together I could get it nice and tight. Plus I could keep it away from the outlet of the right radiator. I hate how close it is to the exhaust.

    John,

There are going to be options for purpose built pipes at some point. Until then it isn't like it doesn't run well with the FMF Fatty for the 125. It just doesn't pull on the bottom/mid like it does with the SX pipe and the motor is just about done pulling when the pipe hits its stride. Matt's bike with that pipe is going to be a handful off the bottom. :)

Right about now I would mock up a dozen pipes as it is snowing at about 2" an hour at the moment.

Ok I have a FMF Fatty on the WS144 now so I could wait a little while. I don't need TM250 top end or 300 bottom end just a little shy of those will be fine:D!

My WB165 kit arrived yesterday! Like Christmas all over again! I will give a tutorial as soon as its together and I break in the motor (hopefully not break the motor!). I have a lot of variables with this motor. This includes the jetting, Walts power valve spring kit, stock WR125 FMF Fatty or modified FMF KTM200 Gnarly, and the JD dual map ignition. It will take some time to get it set up where I am perfectly satisfied but I KNOW it will be worth it. I can post every setup when I try it if you guys want. I can only give a 'seat of the pants' feel. The only part I need is a stator / flywheel setup from a 00-06 Husky CR125. If anyone has a spare lying around send me a message. Its the only part I need to complete the bike.

It sounds as if you and I will have almost the exact same setup. I'll be running the WB165, Kehin carb, Ferracci dual map ignition, PV springs, FMF fatty and TC2. It's going to get put together this winter. :)

Go for it! Also, don't rule out finding at a dealer, cause I bought a new take off set, where the customer wanted the WR ignition.

    Dave,

I was just about to send you a PM to check on your progress when I opened this. You have more patience than I do. When I get some new goody all life gets put on hold until I can install, try, and modify to fit my "personal" profile. Anyone that knows me can try to not visualize that profile but it is too late. :D

I'm the same way Walt; not much on waiting. When I got my WS144 kit, it got bolted on that day, and was test ridden a few hrs later LOL.

    Dave,
We should do some pre race testing together! What series do you run. We did the ECEA Harescrambles this past year. Probably the same this year. We were at the banquet this weekend. Keep us posted on your progress. What year is your bike? Sounds like the only difference will be the pipe. My bike is in peices now. Just picked up my suspension from Drew. Have to buckle down and start building. Hell it should be that hard.....the keg is only a few yards away!

I was at the banquet, too :) I'll be running nearby ECEA HS and Enduros, and I might venture out to PA or NY for one or two events. I'm looking forward to Tri County's HS March 4th! It's only a couple weeks away, so I need to get my butt in gear. I'm in South Jersey Enduro Riders, B200 for enduros and B Vet for HS. You?

I have been reading a lot of well deserved positive responses for the 165 and would like to add my opinions.

I had an opportunity to try one of these kitted bikes out at a place called Diamond Mill in the Oregon Coast Mountain Range. I am a fan of the nasty technical trails and my usual ride is a rekluse and flywheel weighted yz 250 with a trials tire. I am a little on the weighty side right now, around 220lbs. I have yet to be impressed with or have actually enjoyed riding a small bore 2 stroke, until now.
This bike made excellent bottom end power and would chug up anything I pointed it at. Next when the terrain opened up all I had to do was crack the throttle and it would spool right up without hesitation. It didn't do anything weird and the carburetor transitions were spot on. The toughest part of riding this bike was prying my hand off of the bars to give it back to it owner. The hit with the stick across the back of the helmet did work though.
I would not hesitate to enter this bike in any enduro or scramble in any class. As far as a trail bike I think that it is just about perfect. The light weight and great bottom end make it just about effortless to ride.
I hope that one of these kitted bikes makes it into my stable in the near future.

    Dave,
I also anxiously await the March 4th event! I need to get out and ride. Havnt been on a bike since Deleware. Trying to catch up on all the things I didnt do around the house during the last season. Looks like you and I will be on the same line this year. I moved up from C Vet to B Vet. I plan on trying to make all the HS events again but we will see. I havnt joined a club yet. Been reaching out to Ridge Riders but no word yet.

Vinduro, which pipe did Walt modify for you? A stock 200SX? Let us know what you think! I just bolted on the WB165 top end last night. Need new steering head bearings so work on the front end has been stalled a bit. Painted the welds on my modified exhaust so they wont rust then will install. Can not wait to try this kit out coupled with the new suspension from WER! I also replaced the plastic coolant 'Y' with a brass piece I found on Ebay. Just had to solder in some pipe and shorten the hoses a bit. It looks a bit ugly but I put my IMS tank on and it hides everything. If anyone wants pics of the project let me know.

I've finally admitted it to myself, so I might as well put it in writing for you all to see--the main reason I'm stalling on putting the 165 kit on my 2008 is that I'm probably going to pick up a 2012 and stick it on that one instead. :busted: Don't tell the Mrs!

My Mrs. doesn't even try to check up on my fleet anymore. One of the best reasons to stick with Husky is they all look pretty much the same to a wife... Her: "Is that a new bike?" Me: "No way hon, I just washed the trusty old 2009 CR!". Her: "I haven't seen it that clean in a year". Me: "I used a toothbrush". Her: "Oh..." :D
