Hit hard and early in the mid. Signs off pretty early on top. It works great when the terrain isnt slick or technical. I am going to try and still make it work. I will post any more updates.

Well where do I start. Why is it a guy named Walt does something no one else has been able to do.Be it the Husky factory,Fast by Ferricci or even Eric Core
Walt is the man he takes a 125 Husky to the limit.make a 125 into a 165 with just a custom piston and a bore job. Then to add iceing to the cake he finds a FMF pipe
from a KTM 200 that will work on the Husky. Now you have what everyone has been asking Husky to build.A big bore 125 that runs better then a 200 but still feels like a 125.HUSKY are you watching you can do this in house and provide more sales with out any new tooling.
How to my first ride.Installed the kit, took about 1 hour ran a few heat cycles and then went about 15 miles of easy riding.THEN I unleashed the beast I have a 30 mile
tuff single track test track by my house. The bike worked great I have no complants, remember I have never rode a 144 so this 165 was a big improvement. The 165 pulls like my 250 and 300 but feels like a 125.I have not raced my 125 in 2 years since I got a Zip Ty Racing CR 300 now I wounder why I ever stop racing the 125.Now as a 165 I want to go back and try to win the open class again on a 165.I did not adjust a thing on the carb it is still the say way it was when I purchased the bike in 2008
Still stock, no needle ,jet or air screw adjustment.I just installed the 165 kit started the bike and off I went.I did stall it a few times and had to turn up the idle but that is it.when you stall it, it acts like a 250 with all the commpression it has so you have to be ready if you want to bump start it.I ran 14 52 and it could have pulled even a higher gear.for most trails you could just leave it in 3 rd gear and go from a craw to top of 3 rd no problem. My 30 mile track has a little of everything and the bike jut worked in all sections.I even went off my normal course and did a little enduro cross in a rocky canyon and once again the bike worked great
My son who now races my old 125 will take this 165 out tomoro and see how it does.Remember he has been running near the top over all this year on a stock 125 so after he rides it I know we will have to build the new bike we have been talking about.
I want to build a 2012 CR 125 with a 165 kit Then get a set of the new red zoks from Ty Davis and have David at Fast bike industries build new a ohlin shock. Then have a fab shop build a aluim 3 gallon tank.I have a lot of other things to put on the bike to so if this 165 keeps working out as it did today A new project bike is going to be built.
Any one who has a 125 or a 144 and leaves it as a 125 or 144 is missing out .The MR WALT CUSTOM 165 IS THAT GOOD Now Walt you need to patten it before someone steals your idea. Remember you are smarter then everyone else, you did what no one has ever done to a 125 Husky before

JOB WELL DONE THANK YOU YOU HAVE ADDED NEW FUN TO A ALREADY GREAT LITTLE BIKE MISSON COMPLETED

I've been waiting for your report; EXCELLENT! Walt just finished mine last week and now I'm waiting on the finished product from Kelly. I've been running a Walt high compression 144 set up on my 08 CR144 and he told me I wouldn't miss the 144 and I totally trust him but my 144 is so sweet. You are right about Walt being "the man". He doesn't want to hear it but it's 100% true. He has given us something BMW can't or wouldn't do; a big bore 125! I've always wanted to try a 200 but I have a feeling I won't need to once my 165 gets here. Thanks for your ride report and if you don't mind let us know what your son thinks about it.

My son went for a test ride today.Thought he might have posted something by now.Anyway he called me
and the first thing he said to me was.Dad you are going to want to race this ,now what am I going to race. Then he said boy this bike is fast and he stated he should get better starts. Then he said just about everything that has already been said. Two thing he said that were funny are the fact he could not start it in sandles and the fact that when you stall it you better be ready to pound the seat with your
butt so as to bump start it.I am going to take it to the desert and ride all weeken so come monday might have a few more stories.Have to get it completly dialed in before we drive 15 hours to Idaho for round 3 of the Nationals

Just a quick update to anyone who read my previous post about last Sundays race. I had seized the WB165 after smoking my clutch and having the coolant crossover hose burst. Thanks to Walts quick emergency response (I am giving him yet another nick name - Husky Medic) the WB165 is back in action. I performed my second heat cycle yesterday and am going for a easy ride today. Im pretty sure thats all my knee can take right now anyway. I am going to swap out the Gnarly for a Fatty as soon as I have the funds available. I am anxious to see the difference. I might end up testing power valve springs again. Right now I am running stock and silver small. I know that there had been a few people who were curious about the Gnarlys performance. Once I get the Fatty I would be willing to let people try it out to see if its for them before spending the money. Just keep in mind that its quite ugly but does fit!

He is right! That is one thing I LOVE about my 125, but when i upgrade, I'm going to have to adjust my bump-starting technique a bit. Not that it is super hard to bump start, it's just much harder than the 125.

Took the 165 out to desert this weeken.Rode all day no problems and the bike worked great EVERYWHERE I rode it. Once again the carb is still stock as it was on the 125.BUT I did open it up to see what is really inside here is what I have been running for 4 years on the 125 and now on the 165
    400 main jet
    35 pilot
    3.0 slide
air screw 1 1/2 turns out
needed clip second from the top
    needle numbers 6D J8 -60
110 race gas mixed about 36 to 1 once again I have run the 125 from below sea level to up around 6500 with weather from 100 plus then down to about 35 no adjustments
This is what has worked for me and the 165 seems to run fine so for now will leave it

The pipe timing for your 125 is ~8-12K rpms. The 165 likes to run between nothing and 10.5K so the 200 Fatty pipe is a good fit as it is timed for ~6-10K. It will pull to 11K but the power drops off after 10.5K. I set up a 200 SX Procircuit pipe and it pulled pretty well to 11K but the motor isn't very efficient above 10.5K. With the 125 pipe you get bottom/mid improvement over the 144 but nothing like when the pipe is actually working in that range.
