do tell. BTW the 2010 TXC250 will not run without the battery. I had a bat failure while riding and the bikes grinds to a hault. will not run without some power.
my turntech 2.5 hasnt failed me yet, wonder if your still in the warranty range, or at least email him, he was pretty cool with me when i was asking questions.
Regarding an '08 running without a battery connected; my negative battery lead's screw backed out on a ride at Belfair. A sputtering occurred on a choppy section followed by silence when the screw fell out. Luckily the wayward fastener fell into a pocket in the battery tray and I fished it out. I was glad to see the screw gone, my worst fear was that the fuel pump had gone kaput!
Bike no work without the batterie. I think it has to have at least 7.4 to push the ECU and pump. I am in need of a new batt soon, so I will be checking into the less expensive on line version and see if I get two years out of it. 100.00 batterie should give me more that 50.00 bucks a year. Geez....
I carry some zip ties in the tool pouch. I guess they could be real handy if a battery post screw backed out. Seymore, please tell us more of your 2oz wonder. Someone needs to come to market with a no battery fix.
On a 2008 TE250 you need a battery to start and run the bike. Found this out when my pos terminal broke on a ride. A quick press fit and tape I was good to go. Jap bikes and most battery-less EFIs use a capacitor but 2-3 kicks are needed to charge it. Same with snowmobiles, 2-3 pulls before it will start. Sure Husky should have add this into the system but if you use a good battery and not leave the key on you will not have a sudden complete “I’m stuck” issue.
I had a Ebatt. Took it off within a week. If it was cool out the bike would not even turn over. I was disappointed to say the least. Had to modify my wiring harness too. So I had to buy a new wiring harness and put the original battery back in.
Been testing / using the Turntech 2.5 on my 2010 EFI TXC250. Works fine. I do need to sometime kick start it first thing in the AM on a cold day, rest of the day just hit the button. The 5.0 i think would turn it over no problem. So far so good.
I am still on the fence watching all you guys (sound familiar!) Thanks to all for stepping up in the name of R&D for us fence sitters!!R PS the TXC250 is freaking amazing.
I did read where cold weather will drain these things fast but they charge up fast as well. I have had the 2.5 for about a year and have the same issue where I either have to kick it in the a.m. or give it a little charge the night before but only when it is this cold outside. The rest of the day it is fine. Kelly, did you ever get the smaller than 2.5 one?
No he was making a 1.5 I think he called it. The 2.5 is just enough so the 1.5 would not be enough for E-start / EFI unless you want to kick. Would be great for a kick bike you wanted to run lights on.
did you ride one? It really is freaking fantastic. Got almost 600 miles on it now and it is starting to break in nice. Very fast / powerful (regardless of what the mags say, at least for woods work) and the suspesnion is really starting to work. I had one of those days on it yesterday where you could do no wrong. Place with huge loooog hill climbs and the sucker destroys them like it is a 400. Amazing. We ran into a dude on the trail with a 86 250 Husky in this vid, Had to tell him it was a husky, think he thought he was seeing Hondas This trail is way steeper than it looks in the pix in the last half. That is a WR250 with a rekluse in front of me. KX250, KTM300 and WR250 and I was catching and passing them on hills at will. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqHgPgnaDAc
Rob rode mine in Tecate...He likes it, he likes it. Rob rails on his TXC 450 also....The guys a closet Sen. A rider I also feel that my TXC 250 keeps getting better with each ride...The only things I have done are tweak the EFI and added some handguards...Have been riding it with the sparky in and adjusted efi accordingly.... A little mellower with mr. sparky in, but with it out, WOW, runs hard and sounds like a 450....some of my riding buddies thought I was riding a 450 Other than a possible weight savings from an aftermarket pipe, I really like the stock exhaust....I think I will save my pesos and have LTR revalve my suspension in the very near future... Mitch.
my ears are ringing!! Its all in the mouthpiece (my BRUX), Hey I can't even win the B class!!! closet A!!, Hey not as long as guys like Dax, Chilly, LR etc etc and many others are Sen A (some former pros) qualified riders. Yeah Kelly just a short stint on Mitch's in Mex and a fairly good dez ride on Scot's, she has a great balanced feel, and this with no personal suspension tweaks or ergo adjustments. The bike is really a world class machine with no excuses!! Great stuff coming from Italy,,, this includes other brands as well (TM and Beta) even in this slow/tough time there is a Euro rennaisance of Motos going on right now. PS Mitch we rode all the "new" stuff again on Sat.....I (only me) (Bring on LR!!! ha ha) did all the rock obstacles both directions, I just love the suspension and the torque of my machine with all my torque enhancing mods and my left hand controlled slipper clutch. The 250 will easily make all the technicals with slight technique adjustments (read different RPM range) R
Does the battery read 0V? Kelly, I been busy, will try to get the small battery off to you by the end of the week.
On the bench, the battery reads 13+ volts. The posts are still solidly connected to the terminals inside the case. In the bike, during cranking, it was acting like there was an intemittent circuit continuity break almost as though a cell interconnecion conductor was opening under load. Sometimes it would crank and start the bike, other times it would start to crank, then would give a barely audible "click" from inside the case, then die completely. Other times it wouldn't even try to crank but I would still get the faint click from the guts of the battery. But every time I measure voltage, it's 13+.
If it were me, I'd have another person try to start the bike while I measured the voltage while it was exhibiting the symptoms. Then of course play with the decompressor to see how that affects things. Just to fully characterize the situation.
Kelly, that camera of yours, really does a nice job. I have looked around a little bit at Ginger Creek, when I'm passing by on the 610, but haven't taken the 250 there to ride. Is that the trail that takes off right accross the road from the parking area and you kept going right?
