hmmmmm? I thought the 449/511 was a BMW owned design leased to Husky. I'm giving up trying to keep tabs on this round robin circus.

They sell that motor to CCM and Speedbrain and maybe a few others. The 650 motor is also in many bikes from several manufactures and was a multi brand effort by several companies and then built to spec by Rotax to begin with. Welcome to the global economy.

A N D .... CCM say they´re working on a sumo using their MX bonded frame together with the 449/511. So there might be light at the end of the tunnel yet. The small manufacturers always seem to come up with something when the bigger ones get too big and only churn out junk.

Good old Rod Overstreet from the last vestiges of Husqvarna NA before the split/takeover/coup...whatever you call it is the GM of GG NA. he was with GG before Husky and is as passionate as they come. Not advocating it but if ya jump ship....he is a quite capable dude.

After reading and sort of ~following this sort of stuff (including the efi 2t stuff) for a few yrs now ... Its really just talking points or just a waste of time. What comes out from these companies will come out ...We will find out when it arrives for sale.

    --
Don't read the comments about this gas2x company from any of the web pages ... You might understand why these bikes are in a few garages only ... Expecting a company with little real success to suddenly get successful from another companys' leftovers, is fantasy-land most likely. Not that anything these guy release will not roll down some road, dirt or pavement, ...The wheel works for about everyone ... The rest of the machine is up in the air.

Is that one step up from "La-La-land" ray_ray? We already know you hate the 449/511 engine platform. Which has been very successful for years and in many outings, even though you feel it is a flawed design.
I think the fat loan that Gas Gas already has in their pocket that they just got from the Govt. and a little time with these left over engine designs plus the acquisition of Ossa. The Gas Gas Company will be doing quite well, very soon, Thankyou. Maybe even there in the Philippines where the altitude of the foothills must be La-La-Land. Or atleast the place with all the GasGas bikes sitting in garages.
    Come On.
Besides, I don't think the Kymco 449/511 engine was included in the deal, nor is it going to be leftover technology anytime soon. With these engines being used as 1 of the "Top Picks" for installation and reliability in full on competition bikes from some of the worlds top builders. Likely due to there bullet proof reliability and fail proof transmissions, thanks to the Torque Limiter. I'm sure it will go on to kick ass for several more years and many more of the worlds hardest and most demanding rallyes in the future. That definately isn't Fantasy-Land

That's subjective. However, just because KTM isn't currently making a supermoto to compete with Husky doesn't mean they are "churning out junk."

Seems like their other "junk" is doing just fine. If you could 'Berg as part of KTM, they locked down the top 4 positionsin AMA national enduro, in GNCC they were 1,2, and 4 in XC1, and 1,2, and 4 in XC2 (Delong 3rd in XC2), and in H&H they won the past 3 years too.

I'm not a KTM guy, never owned one and I like the smaller brands. However, the idea that they make "junk" is just silly.

First, I'll make this as soft and easy a reply as I possibly can :) ... You gotta remember, I have no job and have plenty of time to spend doing whatever, including writing on the web ... and I don't hate anything really :)..except maybe pure ignorance or maybe the people who use ignorance against others for their benefit.

I don't think any of the Huskies are flawed in their design to stop them from selling or blowing up or whatever when ridden by most ~amateur riders ...That includes the 449 bikes..

Here is a thread I posted in 2011... That would be 2 entire yrs before you became a member here. Feel free to read if you wanna enlighten yourself on the 449 bike and my words on this bike when it actually arrived for sale.
    http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/great-debut-for-the-new-husqvarna-sm449-in-supermoto-gp.17619/

Being a true Husky rider, not a guy who has multiple bikes, but a guy who only rides, lives, breathes only Huskies, I knew Husqvarna had dominated SM racing in EU for yrs with it previous models of crap bikes ... Dominated. Did you know that? :) ... Anyway, I was watching closely what the new 449 with the CTS and all the other features of the new engine ... All this stuff on the 449 bike took quite a beating here in its OWN cafe and all over the web several yrs back when it was introduced.

So the plate is set for Husky failure and what does the 449 do? It wins the EU SM Championship! It wins the EU SM Championship! Sounds good to me if no one else. Say it one more time? It wins the EU SM Championship!

Moving on to the dirt :) ...This thread was started in 2010 also by yours truly also;1 of the 3 real Husky riders in the cafe ...
    http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/sa...n-schopau-germany-on-te449.14182/#post-129487
This 449 bike was ridden by a back-up after Juha got hurt I think... In any event this 449 bikes wins a mud mud mud race.

Now, I do the simple math. The 449 bike wins a SM Championship in EU AND wins a mud mud race in EU also ... And this is all by the yr 2011... ~3 yrs ago. My opinion on the bike was made then (2010, 2011) and has not changed. Except many riders here have added to the fact that they like the bike. This bike is 100% ridable for most riders ...Maybe it is not for all riders, but it is a better bike than say a Hodaka that does not sell much either.

    --
This 449\511 bike (CTS included) did not sell big enough numbers for bmw to retain the brand. This CTS system is not on many, if any bikes from the 1970s to date.. ~40 yrs later. That does not mean a CTS system does not work, as I have tried to show this in the threads I have created above with the 449 bikes... It does work as expected apparently, but this feature(CTS) did not sell well to this date in time. Understand? There is one other big big issue with the CTS, but I'm not gonna bring it up now.

"Expecting a company with little real success to suddenly get successful from another companys' leftovers, is fantasy-land most likely."
This sentence was pointed at the gas2x company as a whole and its future sales, not a component that might be on their bikes that was purchased from bmw .... I don't believe whatever the stuff gas2x has obtained from bmw is gonna make them into a powerhouse. Maybe it will but the gas2x bike company's history does not reflect anything of the sort. But maybe they will buy out bmw some day :) .. Is gas2x a stand-alone bike selling company? Outside of Bajaj maybe(?), none of the big players in the bike selling world today, as we speak, are only bike selling companies ... If gas2x is a stand-alone bike selling company, this will be another obstacle they have to over-come. Watching Husky and its buy-outs the last 4-5 yrs shows this sage pretty well. Good luck.

    --The future and a clue

My avatar ... Its wrong :( ... I have 5 Huskies, not 4... Five muddy, scared, oily, worn tires, plastic scratched-up\broken, Italian made, (parts shortage), seat ripped, bar grips torn up, hours well beyond any written manual hrs that are safe, ~stock Huskies, running straight pump gas and automotive oils (except that 012 has not been raced yet) ... I get up each and every day and decide what Husky I wanna ride, where I wanna ride, and then push my Husky out my front door and ride down the hiway, thru town, and into the mountains (check the ride reports and 'other' sections). That's the 365, everyday life I'm lucky(?) enough to live till 'Kingdom come'. 5 Huskies only.

Thanks for bringing up the Philippines and I don't think most can handle what this country has to offer other than the shiny tourist destinations ... It still seems so weird to me, even after 4 yrs of living here, the freedom that is here every day as the default way of life. I keep waiting for the hammer to fall :) ... I don't think I wanna finish living my life anywhere a radar gun exists ... Just too much GOV control in a place that uses such a high-powered device for controlling its people daily lives. Myself, I'll take freedom over $ most every time. With that in mind, what $ I have now, is what gives me my freedom... Weird ...

If gas2x turns big, pull this thread back out in a few yrs and we both will be happy and get a laugh ... Either way, I'll be here writing crap like this till 'Kingdom comes' or get kicked off because this is a Husqvarna site and I'm 100% down with all Huskies. I hope you stay around that long also, riding a Husqvarna... Same to all your guys here who have at least 1 Husky in your garage :0)

    Hey ray ray,
Thanks for the history lesson, I don't need to go back and read it. As I recall though, a few years before that BMW had the CTS in there bikes. Thanks for the reminder, its hard to remember sometimes walking into a dealer back in April of 09'.

You truly are an awesome died in the wool Husqvarna legend. I'll give you that. I can appreciate your loyalty. I'm about the same way with my 'Chrysler Hemi's". I even have a "Chrysler Wedge" now. I never much cared for them but kind of like a 2stroke they are less money and less maintenance.

My dirt bikes are nothing more than a diversion to escape my little Bordertown and have fun like all the rest of us. Plus they have the added benefit of keeping me in shape for someone who is 55 and so ignorant. Probably very similar to the other 90% of "my guys here who have atleast 1 Husky in their garage" :0)

Regardless of how long I have been on here. I guess if I had been on here longer I wouldn't be near as ignorant of all things Husqvarna. Like my chainsaws and mowers and industrial sewing machines and rescue cutoff saws and all the other early Huskys with 2 wheels I owned and messed with all the way back to 1972 or so.

It's given me my own kind of freedom to express myself for years, by making things for them. We all have our own ideas of what "Freedom" is. I've always gotten more enjoyment and I guess freedom as well from owning and then holding on to my Husqvarna oddities myself. I guess its out of ignorance. Who knows, maybe it is and will be used to my benefit. It certainly hasn't been used against anybody really. On the contrary its put many dollars in my pocket the last 40+ years. I guess thats considered using ignorance against others for my benefit to some. Something all the rest of us would call business. So I guess I should be ashamed of myself now. I'm over it.. The only one who will benefit, If I don't sell it all first. Will be the day when it all gets left to my Brother and Nephew.

The reality is though, I appreciate the views from all over the world, including yours. This is a great site because it is world wide. Like many other dirtbike sites out there that have been around for years.

I guess we in our own minds are legends, some just more than others. Welcome to the Cafe Husky Site everybody. How long have you now been here, each of you?

It must be autograph time now, let me know who are the other 2 husky riders everybody? I'd like to get their autographs first. Then I would be happy because 2 out of 3 aint bad, right? better check in with the owners of the site now ( I mean ray_ray, Then you all can take a nap because this is so darned exhausting.)

Keep the ride reports coming, I like em. Those are some beautiful hills there. I wish I could ride em myself. Strangers probably aren't welcome though, because we would be talked down to, and looked down on, as shiny tourists if we were off the grid and out of our element.

Well off to go get a root canal now. Oh What fun. I have the day off today. When I'm done, since I'll be close to there anyway. Maybe I'll go look at that new Beta 498RR I've been looking at. Or maybe the salesman can talk me into the new FE501 Husky instead? Who knows? If I buy the Beta, I might get kicked off this site for having an other brand of motorcycle in my garage whether they are getting ridden everyday or not.

    Probably Not.

Talk about a thread gone off topic....:banghead:

Rod has a job to do bringing GG up to speed in the US, but the factory and govt in Spain look to be on board so I give them better than even odds. With the crossover engineering of the Varese engines GG could be a nice addition for the current Husky dealers since they are familiar with those engines.
