After having two races with the big fat tank installed, here is my $.02.

Install was flawless, quality of the IMS tank is great. The only problem with assembly was the nutplates are a touch (maybe 1/32") to close together and I had to file out the holes a little on the petcock. I don't fill the tank all the way up, maybe .75gal from full, and I can notice the weight difference while racing hare scrambles. My guess is because the weight is carried a little higher. The width is about 3/4" wider on each side, this is noticeable upon first ride but doesn't effect me while racing. Would I like to have my stock tank back? yes. Do I regret buying the IMS tank? No

If you are only filling it up .75 of the way up Why are you then using the IMS tank A stock tank is 11 quarts.I run a extention on my stock tank with a dry break and the tank holds 3 gallons now.So for races under 45 miles I run the stock one and for longer races I run the IMS

Price, I looked at getting the dry break add on but didn't want that. Some of our races will be around 50miles, so 3 gallons will be pushing it. The last two races have put me right in the reserve window with 3 gallons in the tank.

Do you have any photos of the extention with dry break, where did you get it, and was it a difficult install?

How are you guys running out of gas at 45 miles? I did 60 the other day and still had just under 2 gallons left in my 3.4 gallon tank. I did 110 miles on a tank once. And no I don't just put around.

I get close to 60mi on singletrack with the stock tank before turning on reserve. But in the desert, not so much. I ran out at just under 40mi once when I was wfo a lot. Typically, I have to pull a higher gear and keep rpms low and can squeeze mid 50's out of it if I am in the desert.

I did 100+ miles on my old yzf426 with an IMS 3.4 gal tank, but never got that out of a 2 stroke.

I usually ride trail but that 110 mile day had about 50 on a road tryin to get back to camp. We were far from camp. Then we took a wrong turn. 30 miles in the wrong direction. That sucked. The bike really sucked it down then. So I understand.
