I'm in the UK and there is no Hammerhead supplier here. The US firm wants 50 dollars to send it to me (that's like 2.5 times the value of the part ) for USPS? !!!
Try Powersports Superstore http://www.powersportsuperstore.com...ng=Y&sort=13&search=hammerhead&show=10&page=3 It's not cheap, but it's quite a bit better than what you were quoting.
Cheers. I found a firm over here who can make me a bespoke brake lever with folding tip so they're doing me one which is longer and lower. It's motosupplies.com , more detail on their news page, see item folding lever. I gave no connection to these guys but so far so good. Will see what the finished product is like
Ask them to keep a template as there is really nothing out there that is plug and play replacement for the TE's. Also please post a pic of it when done.
Dom, no problem. I'll do comparison pics. They're also making me a new gear lever so I'll shoot that too.
Ok, I received my HH tip today but now am trying to find a source for metric drill bits.... 5/16 is close but no cigar and I don't want to go up a size and introduce a bunch of slop in my shifter. Any ideas on a quick source for an 8mm drill bit? Napa maybe? I did measure the pin and it was slightly over 8mm (8.1) but I'm not sure when the last time my micrometer was calibrated.... Does drilling to 8mm leave you with a pretty tight (interference)fit?
Use the 5/16" and either wallow hole slightly with bit or use a rat tail file to open it up. Doesn't take much and you'll be guaranteed a tight fit. I did mine in very small increments until I was able to lightly tap the pin into hole. _
