I love ITs. Been really wanting a 200 myself for vintage racing. Borrowed a '77-78(forget which) 125 for a vintage ISDT last year and it was so much fun to ride and handled extremely well for a late 70s bike. Borrowed a '78 250 earlier this year for an AHRMA round in SC and it was also a lot of fun. I liked the 125 better though, handled much better. My current AHRMA bike is a '76 MR250 Elsinore, but I have yet to use it in a race. It was almost finished by the SC race earlier this year, but not soon enough. I've ridden it a few times since then, but it's no comparison to an IT unfortunately.
You mean the right, right hehehe. My tank and seat are sitting on the donor bike right now. Just stole the trip meter and cable from the donor tonight. Tomorrow I'll swap airboxes as mine had been turned into a rat's nest during its slumber. I'm really lucky to have found a complete bike for sure. I had no clue what was going to be needed other than a top end to restore the family heirloom.
OK, so got a late start after supper tonight and didn't want to remove the shocks from both bikes to swap airboxes. So instead I cleaned the carb from the donor. No wonder the pilot air screw was all the way in! Pilot jet was almost completely blocked up. Dug some small deposits out of the float bowl, and cleaned up both main and pilot jets, pilot air screw and that was about it. One step at a time...
I thought I might have to but it was just a piece of dirt. If it doesn't behave I still have the stock jets from my IT in the jet box. I think it's gonna run much better already, and I was able to get it to run decent with junk in the carb.
Low Ri der. So this morning before it got hot and I had to go to work, I took both shocks out of both bikes and got the air box swap started. The box from the donor has a small crack that I discovered after removing the funk off it. No big deal, will need to repair it before it goes in my bike and the shock goes in.
My Dad found a sticker kit on EBay so that's surely on the list. Might just settle for a new set of shoes.
