    Hello Husky fans,

I just wanted to let you know that Jake wadded it up hard at PIR's Thursday Night Motocross. It was the last lap of the second moto when he lost control of his 250 and impacted at the base of a large single. Apparently he was trying to get around someone at the end of a very fast rhythm section. He was KOed for a few minutes and then taken to the hospital (where he is awaiting the results from some type of specialist). He has a concussion, sore limbs, possibly bruised lungs and a compression fracture of C6. His spinal chord was given a positive evaluation and he has sensation and motor function in all of this appendages. He has no recollection of what happened and I gathered all my information from his friend Josh who was there to help throughout the ordeal.

I will keep you informed on his progress until he can start doing it on his own.

    Thanks,

    Ben

I was there. He got an OK start first moto, railed through the pack on a slick and technical track and looked like Carmichael but with Windoms body. Was railing, styling the jumps, looked awesome out there and won the moto with a 10 second lead on a fast field. Went to congratulate him an dhe seemed just Ok with it stating the track was real slick and technical. Second moto, kinda crappy start, then missed a corner early on and let some people by. Had his work cut out for him and came from about 3/4 back in the pack to 4th or 5th and was chasing some duded down. Hammered the whoop section where he had been catching people and just got way sideways on the last two whoops, had a lot of speed and high sided off the last whoop into the face of the upcoming single. hit HARD and bounced 180, feet in the air and landed head down the hill feet up and laid there not moving. The next 15-20 were SCARY. He laid there really not moving at all. For a good 10 minutes nothing moved and I had some real bad thoughts. Freaking scared the hell out of me. He finally awoke, pretty disoriented and making sounds like someone whom had the wind knocked out of them. Gasping for breaths. This went on for a long time too. The whole thing was real freaking scary to see a friend go through. After that dragged him to the side of the track i spoke with him, made him move his limbs, made sure he knew who I was and Josh was and where h was. Seemed like he knew most of it. Still his eyes were rolling around and you could tell he was in major pain. I did feel better that everything seemed to be moving and there were know obvious breaks.

So basically he got lawn darted hard into the face of a groomed (read HARD) jump face. Bad concussion and compression fracture of the T6 (not C6). I tried to call him last night but his wife said he was not doing great and was sleeping. I think everyone plans on a full recovery but it will take some time.

This really sucks and could not have happened to a nicer person. We are all pulling for you Jake. Heal up as this already messed up one good Gifford ride [IMG]
