My Bearing came & it has 13 balls per row even though the SKF engineer said it would be 14. It does have the metal case & fill slot. It cost $102USD shipped to my door.

Paint turned out OK. I used duplicolor engine enamel, Ford semigloss black. I used a hot air gun to bake the paint in a make-shift cardboard oven. fresh paint.JPG right fresh paint.JPG left fresh paint.JPG

I used the same hot air gun to heat the cases, so the bearings fresh out of the freezer would drop right in. A quick pass under the arbor press to be sure they were seated. fresh trans bearings.JPG

The left crank fell into the new bearings beautifully. Unfortunatly I pressed the seal in the wrong position. As soon as I reposition the seal it will be time for me to sort out the transmission parts. I have my original 6 speed trans. & a used one off of Ebay.

Uhmmm, left side, the crank seal is on the inside of the casing on the cheek side ff crankshaft, and twin bearings pressed up against the outter screw-down plate.

All is well then. Just ensure that the double bearing in r/h casing has the ball filling hole on the outside, i.e seal flange, side.

This is a worrying thread. I have just reassembled my Wr250 using FAG bearings but didnt know anything about the ball loading slot. The cost of my bearings was £9 including seals. ( I do buy a lot of bearings so get a good discount)

As long as the Fag bearing has the maximum capacity & C3 rating you should be fine. Fags are high quality bearings.

I sorted through two 6 speed transmissions late into the night. 4th gear, 4th gear bushing & 5/6th gear cluster were worn due to a snap ring not seated completely from the factory. This allowed the thrust washer between those gears to get chewed up causing my popping out of gear problems. I show the bad washer in one of the photos. The gear shaft assemblies, shift drum & shift forks on the right are the good ones I will be using. The ones on the left are spare parts at this point. late night.JPG sorting parts.JPG good 6 speed assembly.JPG bad trust washer (3).JPG

The cases are together. Things went pretty easy. Heated the bearing/case with the hot air gun. Chilled the crank shaft with Ice packs. My home made crank puller worked well. cases together right.JPG cases together left.JPG some home made tools.JPG

Nice work. I'm following your progress since I haven't ever split a case and rebuilt a Husky transmission.
    Thanks for posting.
